Great video thank you. Nice to see real world driving and how much hybrid mode kicks in.

Thanks. I am trying to put some information out there that I would have liked to know before buying the Powerboost.

winter tires are what is making it so good. 4A and tires are a killer

I agree. Good tires make a big difference. 4A is something I didn't know I needed until I drove this truck this winter.

Great video. Your explanation of the drive modes in winter conditions helps greatly. In 4A is there a way to stop the air dam from lowering?

I think the only way to keep the air dam from deploying is to switch into deep snow/sand mode, but that is a mode I would not want to drive down the highway in. It is hard to know though. The dam activated once you are over 40mph and is difficult to tell when it is actually active. Hopefully this summer I can rig up a camera and do some tests. There are definitely some situations where you wouldn’t want it down at highway speeds

One area I would not want it deploying is if I'm driving and I see a roadkill raccoon, skunk Etc in my old truck I just straddle it, now looks like I'll be pushing it down the road like a snow plow

Hello, maybe I'm not understanding you but, hybrid mode is when both electric and gas engines are on. When the gas motor is off it's called electric mode.

Yeah. I think you are right. Hopefully viewers get the gist of what I am trying to say. I will make sure I get it right going forward.

Would it be beneficial to put it in tow/haul in these conditions? My thought is cause in tow/haul the engine doesn't shut off.

I am ordering a similar truck and have not found any videos of the latest generation F150 with the tow mirrors. How do you like them? Also, do the tow mirrors have all the same cameras for 360 view as well as the blind spot monitoring? Do you have the Co-pilot active 2.0 with Blue Cruise options? I just want to make sure I am not sacrificing anything by ordering a truck with the tow mirrors.

I like them quite a bit. Much better visibility and backing up trailers. I have the 360 camera but not blue cruise, it is still possible with the tow mirrors though. Only downside I see is arrow-dynamics and less MPG. The next video I have planned is to review the mirrors.

Is there any way/mode to keep the engine constantly running when at idle? I know the whole premise of a hybrid is to benefit from the ev functions but being able to keep it running in certain situations would be nice I think
@pointsnorthgisuav8661

There are a few modes that keep the truck from going into electric mode when parked. I believe tow/haul mode, sport mode and deep snow/sand mode do it.
@pointsnorthgisuav8661

I might have spoken too quickly on this. I tried going through all of the modes in park with the truck fully warmed up and it styed in electric mode through all of them. You would have to be in gear for tow/haul, sport and deep snow/sand to keep the engine running.

@@pointsnorthgisuav8661 interesting, well perhaps someone will come out with a device to plug into the obd2 port to keep it running similar to the devices that shut off auto start/stop for those that want the power benefit of the electric motors working with the engine but don’t want to go all electric

@@willyvanrook151 Hybrids are not Auto Start/Stop, it doesn't have a starter, the electric motor drives the engine on. There's no worry about letting the engine turn off, there's no starter to wear out. ((I know, because I special ordered a F-150 Hybrid, and one line of options is "Auto Start/Stop Removed (NC)" )) Fun fact too, the AC isn't driven by the engine either. It's driven by another electric motor.

@@Channel-gz9hm I am aware of how a hybrid works, I’m simply coming from a performance/sound perspective where it would be nice to have the option to keep the engine running to be able to hear/feel it, even if that means nullifying the purpose of the hybrid operation. I’m not saying it would make anything better, rather it would be neat to have optional functions. Ferrari has a new hybrid car that has the optional function that allows you to go into a Sport Mode where it keeps the engine continuously running

TY👍 Only a 1.5KWh battery -- my Chev bolt has a 65KWh battery -- I am thinking this should have minimum 10KWh as you can almost my my Bolt in the back of an F150🤣 Cheers

Does it still shut the engine down when you have a heater on while the truck is idling in park?
@pointsnorthgisuav8661
2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the heat setting. The engine will run until the cab gets warm and then switch into electric mode with the heater running. If it cools down too much inside the engine will start back up to keep the temps up.
