As a 2016 Grand Cherokee owner the 5.7L V8 is the only engine you should get. The MPG is practically the same with nearly 100 more horse power and 100 lbs of torque. I drive all over the country as a Regional Manager in my GC and it is the most comfortable and best vehicle I have ever owned. The fact I can go anywhere in any weather condition in confidence is why I love it. Now, I do 40,000+ miles a year and I have delt with the Hemi tick. The repair sucks it was $3,000'ish to repair, but 231,888 miles as of today it is worth it. I've got another 200,000 in this motor I'm sure.

Could you do a side by side review of the Grand Cherokee L and the Durango?
@jakes5530

A vehicle that big and heavy needs the hp and torque the V8 has. Shame you cant get the hemi in the lower trims, and shame Jeep doesnt have a twin turbo V6 for a better mix of mpg and performance.
@WardoUSA

There's actually no performance difference between the two engines. I still want the V8 but like others have mentioned, it's not worth 15k+ in price.
@jakes5530

@@WardoUSA theres about a 1.5 second difference in 0-60 according to one magazine I read. 6.7 vs 8.2 seconds. That might not be totally noticeable in normal driving, but when towing or passing you’ll feel the extra 70 hp and 130 extra lb ft torque.
@WardoUSA
3 жыл бұрын
@@jakes5530 interesting. I don't recall any tests showing that but that was months ago when I reached them. My 13 overland v8 had a linear torque delivery compared to my 16 V6 overland. The V6 was faster. Either way it's unfortunate the V8 is not available on the L with the lower trims. Shopping them now and think we might go with a Durango. They have a large list of options in comparison. Haven't driven them back to back yet.

@@WardoUSA i havent driven either, but I’m not really in the market for a new car at the moment. If i were it’d be the upcoming 2 row GC. I mostly just watch these GC-L videos to see what to expect on that vehicle since they’re essentially the same apart from the 3rd row.

This is so nice, that you nearly forget that there is an even NICER version in the Summit Reserve, which pumps up the luxury to the sky. I think the Overland is the sweet spot though in terms of value.

I bought a 2022 Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve with the 5.7 L V8 Hemi. Its ok, better then the V6 in power, but still slow and inefficient compared to the 4.4 Liter twin turbo V8 I had on my BMW X7, and not as fun to drive, nor does it handle well. Its a truck and an old engine. Parts will be cheap and its a proven engine, but I wish I had the new Tornado V6 twin turbo. I still think in 2022 the torque for the 5.7 L Hemi is pretty weak. An engine of its displacement should put out 500HP and another 100lb/ft of torque. I am not impressed. Now the interior and luxury/tech is 5 star, actually better than the Germans. Far more luxurious than the BMW in my opinion, and the X7 50i I had was $110,000 sticker. The fully loaded Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve topped out at $77k. Not sure how it will be in terms of resale. We shall see.

Couldn’t agree more. We have a fully loaded 2023 GC L Summit Reserve. Blows our 2021 BMW X7 M50i away except in HP and handling. The three things we do miss are soft close doors, heated & cooled cup holders, and the performance. Drove the six cylinder JGC L and it was pitiful. The 5.7L is a necessity IMHO.

Do you know why jeep refuses to allow off-road packages to be ordered? I just ordered one last week. Overland L model and the dealer checked several times with me sitting there and off-road was not able to be ordered. I’m not sure why jeep is making them for you tube reviewers and not the public. Very frustrating. So I got mine without off-road. Not a huge deal but I did get the hemi and some other options with my overland

If you think the 6 is just fine, you're not a car person and should get off this channel. Drive them back to back and there's no comparison. But if you're someone who's considered a Highlander or Traverse, shops at the outlet malls and think the stuff is just as good as the regular retail stores, and think that Chick-fil-A is a nice place to go out to eat, then please, just keep your opinions to yourself. If you don't say it, no one will know, and no one will roll their eyes and laugh at you. You probably also think that the government is tracking you thru the Covid vaccine as you read this on the single largest device the government tracks you on - your phone...
