A 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo comes in the base GLE 350. It produces 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque and punches well for its weight.
The higher-priced GLE 450 has a turbocharged and electric supercharged 3.0-liter inline-6 with EQ boost that churns out 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. This is our engine of choice. It makes this midsize Mercedes SUV feel energetic and lively, thanks to the 21 extra horsepower coming from the electric EQ Boost system.
All GLEs are equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission, but only the 63 S models get paddle shifters.
