@MrPikkoz

@@cypvh74 the headlights are "matrix" as shown in this video the source of light is from a matrix array of small LEDS that are individually controlled not only on and off but also the brightness , the whole projector also have a 2 axis correction . The intelligent/adaptive feature to only illuminate certain parts of the road (eg create a cone of darkness around oncoming cars, reducing brightness on traffic sings etc) and the swiveling feature to better illuminate the sides when cornering is the result of a control unit that interprets the images from a camera ,steering and dip sensors and then control the headlights to illuminate as needed. To sum all up , the headlights are "matrix" and capable of the intelligent features that you normally find in car equipped with matrix headlights and Tesla already have all the hardware needed to enable the smart/adaptive features...they just need to cook up an update that allows the parts to talk to each other .

I just got my m3 2021 LR last week. Old type of lights (without the round bulb/xenon looking lamp in the side). On my way to the shop it started snowing so snow accumulated on top of the rather flat designed lights. The result was that i could not see 2 inches ahead of the car but all the light was reflected through the snow that had deposited on the lights enhancing all the snowflakes that were falling. So now i cant see ahead and i see a dance of a million sparkling tiny snowflakes in front of me. To top that m3 does not have washers for headlights so i had to stop and clean the lights twice... Any fix on that? I get it that this is a car made for California but come on... it wasnt even snowing heavily...

@@johndaniel4532 But fog lights are supposed to be under... High beams were not on, only short throw. After i cleaned the snow it was working fine. I talked to a colleague that confirmed that when it snowing heavily and he is stuck in traffic he has to get out to remove the snow or else he wont be able to see anything later on the highway.... yeah well....

After so big expectation regarding headlights, I can said one word after 5 month owning TM3P: disappointing. The car has a lot of strengths but night rainy driving is really bad :-( Headlights are not adaptive, and I doubt they will ever be adaptive (is it true US law does not allow for selective beams?). Wipers are another weak point, I wish auto wipers would be fixed with next software releases as it was promised by Elon Musk.

The new projector headlight are adaptive, just backward US laws mean it can’t be enabled until future. I’ve been using lights like this for years in Australia (on an inexpensive Mazda3 no less). They work brilliantly and prevent glare while maximising visibility.

It is sad that the Brits won't convert over to join the rest of Europe and the world and drive on the proper side of the road. Perhaps they could convert over gradually with drivers who have even license numbers driving on the left side of the road for a month and then people with odd-numbered plates converting over the next month. ;-)

@@doggnamedchip yup, I kinda ment when you go to bed, studies have shown too much screen time interferes with sleep, currently most countries still have sodium street lighting as it was the low energy of its day, but as they go, also replaced with LED, and the harsh daylight blue of offices and canteens, I think you will find its not just nocturnal insects that will lose their cycadian cycles. Nothing about the frequency of light spectrums how complete it is, how similar to sunlight it is. Led frequency spectra are known for their holes in the spectrum that provide poor reflections for certain colors and objects. Halogen spectra have a more complete spectrum but are often worse at higher frequencies. This test shows nothing about real reflections on the road. And nothing about how the light is distributed on the road. In reality completely worthless because it does not show which objects are reproduced well and which are reproduced poorly.
