We’ve had ours for 18 months now and done 15,000 miles in it and we’ve never noticed anything wrong with the suspension. We have the 22” wheels and it’s super comfortable and controlled. About to take it from the UK to the south of France for the third time. It handles perfectly and the ride seems great at any speed. We generally get about 50 miles on a full charge but if you take it out on a long drive including some stop start traffic and town driving, we have managed to get 65 miles out of it when in hybrid mode. Can’t fault it.

Driving the x5 45e now for 3.5k km. never experienced any issue you described with the suspension. in contrast, car is an absolute gem on the highway, eating miles with great performance and comfort. no idea if your car had an issue or so. i bought mine in 2022.

I would say the same. We own a 2021 X5 45e Manhattan green love it and I’ve never had the issue you’re talking about. Anytime it gets a lil too floaty, I just knock the suspension down a level and it solves it. Also the thing about have the car for a week vs owning is, you can setup driver profiles and set electric for example, to drive with sport suspension and sport dampers. I live in the mountains above napa and I can just hug turns in electric collect all the regen juice down hill and having electric mode setup like sport allows me to do that. Living with the car I think your opinion would change.

Hello Everybody, I'm so happy that someone mentioned this problem. I Have a BMW 540d Xdrive mit adaptive suspension which leads to air suspension at the back. I'm having exakt the same problem. I realized, that only 1 of 10 people can feel this. It drives me nuts. I agree 100 % with Alexander Menck comment, short knocks come through and pumps lead to "jumping" suspension at the back. Switched between comfort and sport, sport nearly solves the problem but strengthens the short knocks. I'm really unhappy and was thinking about switching from my 540d to this X5 45e, but know I'm not confident if this is the right decision. Oh man BMW, please solve this because everything else is so great.

I did test drive one of those when wanted to buy the 40dX. Used the „Adaptive” mode and the handling was just terrible at high speeds - the steering was super precise, but body roll was just simply insane - way, way bigger than in my F15 X5 on steel springs even tough I have 18” rims with baloon 55 section tires on it. Then I knew that air suspension in X5 is just not for me. Apart of that it also left me with mixed feelings - it was shockingly quiet, but didn’t felt as fast as it actually was and the gain in comfort was way smaller than the loss in handling. Soon after that BMW cut the discounts and cut the equipment due to semiconductors shortage, which led me to at least try if the Cayenne is just an overpriced product, where you pay mostly for the badge… and probably next week I’ll finally get my new Cayenne GTS 😂

Weird that they detuned the B58 all the way down to 282 HP on this version. Is it just lower boost? Assuming it has the TU (Supra) HPFP, there's massive room for tuning power gains. ECU flash and downpipe alone may add over 100 HP. I'm curious.

This car is much quicker when you completely disable the DSC, pity is not shown. No 45e car is a car for me, I find them almost fraudulent. You're really getting the 3L in-line 6, don't count too much on the electric engine for two reasons: the daily recharge sessions is tiresome. For any long distance, high-speed travel, the battery is depleted in the first 30 minutes, and after that, all you get is whatever you can regenerate by braking (or pay a high price to try load it with the ICE). BTW, love the content, keep it up!

Those PHEV are so bad:1)the car is a lot heavier, so it drives so much worse compare to the 40i 2)this fucking tank, has the same powertrain as the first e-golf(~25kwh battery and 100+Hp, that s insane for only a phev, and this thing adds a lot to the weight of the car, just think that you have the powertrain from the 40i+the powertrain from an e-golf… 3)you only make 65km in real world with 24kwh, that s very bad, a Model X which is similar in class, can make with 24kwh, ~120km, and so that mean that with this X5 you would need 35kwh to do 100km in electric mode!!!With this amount of energy you Could go from Frankfurt to Dortmund with a Model 3, also with those electric charging prices that would cost you 17.5€ Per 100km, which means a consumption of 12.5 liters of fuel for an X5 40i, so it as expensive as gas, just becuase it very inefficient in electric mode 4) belive me that almost no one charge it, so it going to consume a lot, a lot more than the 40i, just a waste of materials, especially batteries, and fuel, and space you would have had in the car 5) the car is going to be less reliable because the thermal engine will have to work more than normal to pull the larger mass, I'm just saying that you have to do the maintenance of two propulsion systems, and the tires, otherwise very expensive on this car, will wear out faster, I'm just talking about the fact that if the engine has been stopped for a long time, you are driving only electrically, and suddenly you need a stronger acceleration, you will wake it from the dead, cold as hell, and it will hurt it a lot So as I write this, a person on insta posted a story of the phev X5, with a full tank, and the battery at 1km range😂😂 exactly what I was saying, you'd better get the X5 40i or if you really want to be eco, the iX 40, but in no case a PHEV
@paradox5556

@@paradox5556 no, it isn’t like that, because the electric engine is small, it doesn t recovers that much Energy, also if you drive hard on the autobahn, the battery will go instantly, and then the 3.0 engine will just have to Take a lot more kg s, and then if you drive normally, and slowly, where this car is ok, and also if you charge it at home, why you didn t buy directly an electric car, because if you wan t to go Fast on long distance s and you do not want to have to charge a car(like an EV) you do not buy an X5 45e, you buy an 40i/d, so if you want your PHEV to be efficient, you would be better with an EV
