You're looking at a 10 year break-even point compared to the regular Transit. Doesn't make much sense to me. EV's make a lot of sense in certain applications, where the manufacturer is able to make the car feel 'worth it'. The Model 3 is a good example, it feels absolutely worth its price in terms of performance, technology, interior quality. As such, it sells like absolute hot cakes. Whereas something like this is directly comparable to it's petrol equivalent - there are no real performance, technology or interior enhancements. I mean it has HALOGEN headlights? As such its extremely hard to justify a 40k premium and likely wont be very successful.
@leoliu8617

I can’t agree more. This just does not make sense, as a cargo van this has compromised load capacity in terms of height clearance and weight rating. As a full EV it is still built on old platforms and missing all the new EV technologies, on top of it there is a hefty price premium. I’d pick up a diesel version any day.

Yes it may be cheaper than its competitors, but wow, for that coin I would like to see less hard scratchy plastic and actual LED headlights for safety. 2). I think it's great to see diverse reviews being done, away from the mainstream SUV/ute markets. But why did this review come about? I think an accountant is needed to determine if the e-Transit is worthwhile or not, because there's more to total cost of ownership than purchase price. With something like a Renault Traffic selling for maybe $65k that's 40k that needs to be covered, and I am unsure if all of that can be recouped by the cheaper running costs of the e-Transit alone. I've read some reports that Canberra is looking to set a zone in its CBD that is petrol/diesel-free and I can't believe that other cities won't follow at some stage with ever-increasing areas where ICE-vehicles are banned, so the move to electric vehicles might well be forced. One thing that irritates is the seeming necessity to add blue highlights to every electric car. Surely manufacturer CEO's have more maturity than this?

The best thing about electric vehicles is watchng people carry around a petrol generator after they realise there aren'rt enough chargers around, or they have to pay and line up for hours.,,,which kind of cancels out any green incentive people delude themselves with. And since you have NET meter solar as an option for your source of electricity the bit of extra upfront cost is so quickly payed back. So since you are so detail oriented it would serve you well to inform your viewers properly. It pains me to see some viewers parroting the price is crazy etc. when there’s no effort made to examine the investment vs. The cost. Needs to be at least 450km +. Who want to be constantly charging the stupid thing. Ideally you want change it once & for it last 2-3 days before the next one.
