My observations 1) leg room is better in gx since no battery pack below driver/ co driver seat. Not sure if this also safety point as most vehicles have battery in boot. 2) Mileage is less but if someone driving (7000 - 8000) kms per year it will take 15+ years to recover the upfront cost paid for vx (not even vxo) 3)In hybrid may have battery issues after 8 years of warranty. If battery is weaker (168 cells) it can affect mileage in hybrid. Also if battery down completely vehicle cannot be used till battery replaced. So if someone dont want all these will go for gx 4) I still agree 25 lakhs car with manual ac, 2 airbags is a pain.. Buying car now a days is how much one can compromise as we have lot of options.

Good , to know this ! My money well spent on Kia Carnival diesel and I'm enjoying every single bit and I get 9.5 kmpl in city and 13 kmpl on highways with the 440Nm torque and 200 BHP diesel with 8 speed AT ❤ thanks to my parents who were against Hycross. Can't die for its so called reliability and buy the Hybrid. Toyota was never cheap to maintain from my past experience 2.8 Z costed a lot on maintenance but that's the best Crysta one should own.

GX OTR 23L VX OTR 30L difference 7 lacs upfront Mileage Gx 10 kmpl minimum Vx 19 kmpl minimum Note : i take minimum mileage because gx ne 13.5 kmpl mileage diya hai (tested by zigwheels ) but hamesha yehi nhi hoga city mai kam bhi hoga toh 10 kmpl man lete hai kam se kam Cost per km : Hybrid : 108/ 19 = ₹5.68 per km Non hybrid : 108/10 = ₹ 10.8 per km Hence to cover 7L upfront cost u need to use hybrid vehicle for 1,25,000 kms atleast. Also innova hycross hybrid battery cost 2.5L right now (not in india but outside india coverted into INR) Although it has 8 years warranty. Hence gx is value for money in comparison to vx. Main point is even gx base is too costly 23 lacs otr. If anyone want spacious 7 seater petrol automatic in budget then he can get kia carens prestige plus dct at 18.5 lacs on road. Plus kia carens easy to maneuver in city.

I feel like the Hycross is comparatively less value for money referring to the price bracket it caters (18-30 lakhs). You have great other options like the XUV700, updated Safari, MG Hector (+) and even Alcazar. The Safari and Alcazar are bound to get a face-lift towards the end of this year and I don't think that anyone in their right minds should spend almost 30L just for Hybrid.

A tata safari Xmas variant makes more sense at this price. Things u get in the safari over the hycross. 1. Diesel engine so more torque and mileage. 2. Torque converter instead of cvt so better gear box. 3. Sunroof. 4. Bigger tyres and alloys. 5. Better driving dynamics. 6. Proper butch suv looks. 7. Harman sound system

What else do we expect from a mammoth 2.0 NA petrol? 7kmpl is just fine. Heck the puny hyundai 1.2 NA with TC/CVT returns 7-9kmpl at best. So this is just par for the course

Its high time for Toyota to bring its international variants like RAV4, Corolla Cross, Yaris Cross, new Yaris sedan, etc....... to India all in Hybrid and petrol naturally aspirated engine versions. Toyotas new generation dynamic force engines are very efficient, refined and powerful. The above mentioned vehicles other than Yaris sedan comes in 4 wheel drive and hybrid options. But we can only hope for good things because our government charges astronomical taxes for vehicles in higher categories which is much more than most of the countries in the world whereby looting the people and fuel prices which are very high even when crude oil prices are much lower than pre 2014. Oh might be all these are for building toilets!!! There are much more options to build clean and efficient Petrol and Diesel engines where the government should support all manufacturers by reducing the exorbitant taxes and directly jumping on to the electric band wagon by copying other countries.

Comparison isn't needed, XUV700 is a far superior vehicle than this, it got a punchier engine, smooth AT, more features. Hycross non-hybrid is neither here nor there vehicle with literally nothing to stand out except the Toyota badge, but it might sell thanks to blind fans.

I don't know what Toyota were thinking with this non-hybrid Hycross. A car this big with a small 2L petrol engine will send your fuel expenses through the roof. They should have had the hybrid tech as standard accross all trims and dropped the alloy wheels, the stereo system, USB ports, and other features to keep cost in check for the GX.

But cab companies also look for good fuel efficiency, and 12 kpl (max) is never gonna convince them to buy a non-hybrid Hycross. Edit- fun fact: I saw the delivery list of the Toyota dealer in my city, and they received ZERO bookings for the G and GX variant of the Hycross.

depends on your definition of 'worth'. if you think it is more mileage thus cheaper to run then no. electric tech is not yet mature enough to turn into savings. It is a new tech with a price tag. if you want to be help environment by lesser emissions and fossil fuel use, then yes it is worth it.

It's hi time ICE finally became Direct Drive. With an ISG handling stalling speeds, a CVT does not have to go through a torque converter to pair it with the ICE. That technology alone can bring the efficiency numbers to acceptable levels. Pure ICE just cannot get the job done. Full hybrids are nice but is going to be a while before its costs become realistic.

If not for price it’s a base model Ertiga rival.And it’s not even good for commercial use because of fuel efficiency. I don’t know who will by this base model Ertiga with a Toyota badge,fuel efficiency of 6.9,and price of an XUV700.

There's more to a car than just interiors and fuel efficiency. The Ertiga will not stand near this in terms of cabin insulation (road noise), suspension quality over bad roads, stability and most importantly, Safety provided by its structure.

Toyota anyday than a tata safari or harrier or XUV 700 maybe due to its looks and features The hycross has loads of spaces and the engine n handling is too good I feel cars prices have increased drastically compared to earnings of customers So many times 20 is told so u buy a honda city or creta or kushaq or maruti vitara plz mg hector is only an alternative if u are ok with MG hycross is clear winner

more powerful turbo petrol engines are returning better fuel efficiency than this. I think it is due to the NA engine + CVT combo. What happens is you have to rev pretty high in order to get enough power from this engine. And CVT is also not a performance-oriented gearbox so you press the throttle even further to close the gaps in city traffic conditions. That makes the case worst and you get such pathetic efficiency numbers. old i20 NA models also faced the same problem. they neither had power nor fuel efficiency. They should put a turbo engine with a torque converter or even an NA engine but with torque converter would work also.

There is a better wheel well filling option 225/65 R17 which comes for RAV4 with the same engine option which is a smaller vehicle interms of height and length but it has 4wd. Higher variants come in 225/60 R18 and 2.5L toyota new generation dynamic force engine and also strong hybrid option with the same 2.5L engine but in Atkinson cycle. The 2L engine in the hycross also is the dynamic force new generation engine from toyota which are the thermaly most efficient engines in the world. I know in a country like India there is no point in telling anything where only fuel efficiency matters and the government is looting people with taxes and fuel prices are exorbitant all for the sake of building toilets and making fool of people.

They could have tuned the engine for efficiency limiting the power to around 140 PS, which I think would have been enough for the target audience whilst giving them a decent FE number. Can we expect Maruti do that with the Engage or is it just wishful thinking?

I have driven my Innova Hyrcoss 6khas series of issues . 1. Super hard suspension 2. driver left knee hits the center consol. Which results left knee pain.Poor thigh support. 3. Build Quality - the bonnet vibrates like paper every time when hits a pothole or speed breaker.
