Picked up my Spur GX this past November. Sold my 2019 Jet 9.... I'm not blaming you for that, but I could. Glad to see you getting back to the Spur. Knowing the bottom bracket was low...especially compared to the Jet 9, I had shorter 170mm XX1 cranks waiting for Spur. I'm still finding more pedal strikes than expected though. I never had to worry about pedal strikes on the Jet...but I'd still make the "transition" to the Spur. I swapped all my XX1drivetrain parts from my Jet 9 over to the spur along with Reynolds XC 309-289 rims with BERD spokes. I also swapped the Rekon in the rear for the New 2.4 Forekaster...the traction is worth the extra weight. I have a new set of Wicked Will Super Ground tires waiting for the North Georgia spring. Have you ever ridden Blankets Creek or Chicopee woods on the north side of Atlanta? Bring that Spur up here and I'll hold the camera for you. I like that new color you have which looks like a perfect Florida color. Excited to see how much weight you drop off the bike. Since your old Jet 9 basically had the same fork shock combo as your new Spur I'm interested to see what you think of that... and then again compared to your previous spurs Rockshox combo. Now that the Spur is available again, someone needs to get some more videos out!

Curious about rockshox vs the fox build in GX config. Seems like the common preference is for fox, but it also seems to add 2+ pounds. Any thoughts on one vs the other and why? Thank you.
@ClintGibbs
Жыл бұрын
I prefer fox because they are less finicky and require less maintenance over the long run. The fork is stiffer which improves the handling of the bike. If weight is a concern then yes, rockShox is better unless you’re talking about the Fox Stepcast fork which is what I would run if I wanted to lighten up the front.

PB gave a great review and said that this bike is a Trail bike for XC racers. Personally this is one of my favorite frames. I would build more on the trail side with wide STANs Baron CB7 rims and a Fox 130mm fork.😎

i noticed that Transition changed their FAQ about fork travel to include + or - 10mm of travel, which gives a green light in my mind for 130mm forks. I think before it said not to go above 120. That might help get the bottom bracket up a bit while not sacrificing geometry negatively. I'b be interested in seeing someone do a review with a 130mm fork on this bike.
