The plant research conducted at the Missouri Botanical Garden extends well beyond St. Louis. In fact, Garden exploration, conservation, and restoration activities take place in more than 50 countries around the world, in ecosystems spanning from snowbound mountaintops to lush rainforests. Whether posted abroad or traveling from St. Louis, fieldwork always involves extensive planning, flexibility, and interaction with diverse landscapes and cultures. Hear from a panel of Garden scientists who conduct fieldwork across three of our geographic areas of focus: Latin America, Asia and Africa/Madagascar, and learn what goes into preparing for a field trip, how they collaborate with people around the world to understand and protect plants, and their thoughts on the professional and personal rewards of exploration.
