I wanted to like it but GM can't make a solid reliable anything. Look at Toyota EV the wheels fall off so laughable. The Bolt has great specs for the price again I wanted to like it but again it still has battery issues even after a replacement battery. Tesla has been in the game the longest in EV market. Tesla has problems to I'd say wait 10 years then the EVs will be 10 times better than today's EVs. I really want an EV by the way but I'm going to wait.
@stevieg3552

@@rcDoom it’s fine to wait and not be an early adopter of EVs but saying “wait 10 years and it will be 10 times better” is confusing and makes no sense. Cars and technology will almost always continue to improve (in the right direction). Even current gas cars after more than 100 years still have problems. EVs is just the next EVolution (see what I did there? 🤣)

Hahahaha, yeah great job, STEAL/COPY the design of the Kia EV6. But hey they been stealing the designs of Hyundai with the blazer and trailblazer so might as well use Hyundai/Kia designs for all there vehicles. Chevy should learn to understand, its not just Hyundai/Kia designs that has them selling at a much higher rate, its what they offer for the price...superior EVERYTHING FROM engine all the way down to the sound system. Chevy should be ashamed, but I guess there ok beings people don't actually do research and have any clue how Chevy & Ford rips people off

Also, the charging speeds may hurt it. Seems GM intentionally crippled the charging speeds to create a tier system. They're reserving the 800v system for the ultra luxury vehicles, like Hummer and Silverado. This is a mistake. Kia and Hyundai gives its sedans and SUV 800v or 350kw charging. This matters because in the winter, charge speeds can dip well below 60% allotment. So if this tops out at 100kw charging, then in winter expect to get only 40kw. If you're in ioniq 5 doing winter charging, you're getting north of 100kw, which is the max summer temp of equinox. I hope chevy change their backwards tier system strategy.

It won’t necessarily qualify for the full tax credit just because it’s built in Mexico. The battery materials also need to be sourced from approved countries. So, the rebate is still up on the air.
@amigajoe
Жыл бұрын
Your comment on the tax credit isn’t necessarily accurate, or it is unintentionally misleading. The vehicle being built in North America is the prerequisite to be considered for any of the $7,500 after 1/1/23; in and of itself, being built in NA doesn’t mean it gets any of the $7,500. The $7,500 is broken in to two parts related to the battery build and contents. Now, might it qualify for the full $7500 ? Absolutely. But we won’t know until Chevy announces that it does, or shares the info in the battery and the IRS (or someone similar tells us).

Well, it's outdated charging specs. The Nissan Leaf, which is on its way out, has around the same charging speeds, which is absolutely ridiculous for a new 2024 vehicle to have. The ultium platform supports 800v charging, which gives 350kw speeds, similar to Hyundai and Kia. Charging speeds matter, especially in North America where winter Temps reduce charging speeds about 60%. That means out of the 100kw, in winter you're getting 40kw, that's incredibly slow for 2024 EV. The hummer EV uses the 800v system on the samw ultium platform, so why isn't the Equinox using 800v system on the same platform? It's not a size issue, because Kia and Hyundai have sedans and SUVs with 800v system. The only thing I could think of is GM intentionally crippling the charging speeds to create a tier system by giving preferential charging speeds to more expensive EVs. Imagine manufacturers designing gas holes smaller on less expensive cars to have you intentionally pumping gas longer at gas stations, 3X's longer, just because you can't afford their top brands. That's exactly what GM is doing by crippling the Ultium platform of the Equinox. I have a problem with this. Hyundai isn't doing it, Kia isnt doing it. So why is chevy doing this?

Those are coming fall 24. I think Chevy is making a mistake crippling the charging speeds. Most people like having the freedom to go where they want whenever. When you're in a slow charging EV, that really kills your confidence, this coming from a current Bolt owner. A simple 300km road trip is nerve-racking. Kia and Hyundai new sedans and SUV all have 800v charging system capable of 350kw speeds. The Ultium platform is also capable of 800v 350kw as equipped in Hummer EV. But GM intentionally decided to cripple the Equinox charging speeds to create a tier system, where only ultra expensive EVs get road tripping confidence. This is a mistake. Imagine manufacturers intentionally designing gas ports smaller on lower priced cars to keep middle-class workers pumping gas 3X's longer than the rich? Shouldn't all cars fill up at same speeds? Kia and Hyundai thinks so. Because rich and not so rich Americans love the feeling of freedom.

Excellent, was looking at the 2023 bolt for cost effective ev. This is said to start at 30,000 which is about the same as the bolt. I'm really excited for the ev revolution. So many changes, styles, and features are being completely revolutionized Stylistically, front: wonderful, its simple but significantly better than the bolt, it just looks clean and simple Side profile: love it, I hate suv and crossovers but im happy they went with the more aggressive back end, instead of just being egg shaped Charging: 250-300 miles is OK. For the price point, and context of evs being newer, I think 250 miles base is acceptable and probably sufficient for most people using it as a daily driver Back: hmm, much better than the bolt, but I've never been a huge fan of chevy tail light designs, but its fine Interior: excellent, needless to say it's attractive, looks functional, and steering wheel is cooler than chevys usual designs

I believe General Motors will charge as much as they possibly can for their products. They have to buy all the material needed to manufacture their cars from similar suppliers as the the rest of the industry. I can’t see why they would be able to dramatically underprice other manufactures. It’s too early to make price predictions.

I can’t believe they aren’t doing a reservation process for this model. With it having the chance to really be successful I’d think they’d want to know their possible demand and order pipeline like they did with the other new GM EVs. Also, with the tax credit the battery assembly must take place and materials must be minimum 40% sourced from North America (with the amount increasing each year). So unless they are opening mines I doubt these will get the full credit. Possibly the 1/2 credit. And if the MSRP goes over $55k then there won’t be a credit at all. So hoping the 3RS comes in under that amount.

Love the handle. A former Eagle Talon owner myself. If you are in an apartment without access to your own garage/charger I totally get where you are coming from. But if you have your own garage and can charge at home each night this is a total non factor. Most people don’t fill their tank until they are down to 1/4 tank. Which means on average you have 150 miles of range in a gas car. In this vehicle you will have 300 every day. And I can’t articulate how good a feeling it is to never have to go to the gas station… in the rain, when I’m running late, when it’s too hot out… trying to hunt down a cheaper station. The overhead of that part of regular car ownership is something you don’t realize even exists until it is gone.

Bravo GM for inventing the competitor to Tesla X , but 12 yrs too late. Following the tradition of American corporatism, the GM decided to " forget" the roots and " reinvent" the model line up yet again. The Trax was promised to be the replacement for the HHR ( surprise: it wasn't). Trailblazer was supposed to be a larger vehicle than the Trax (surprise: it isn't in 2023 lineup). Blazer is neither an SUV, nor a sports car (surprise: it's supposed to be an off-road capable traditional SUV). And now they're managed to come up with an EV Blazer, which is not even a replacement, but an off-shoot to an existing i.c.e. Blazer, but in shape and dimensions -exact same as " smaller" 2023 Trax. Hey, GM, how about you name your next 4x4 electric pick-up 🛻 a Camaro? How about the electric replacement for Traverse you call a GrandNational? And make it drive backwards? Why not?- just a continuation of your amazing corporate thought process.
@phillyphil1513

that thing is HUGE so much bigger than the early images hinted at. was honestly hoping it would be slightly smaller like the Bolt and Bolt EUV, but of course something everybody forgets is how the both Bolts are technically SUBCOMPACTS so a whole different size class of vehicle (downwards) relative to most everything else on the road be it gas or electric. this new Equinox on the Ultium platform is indeed FULL SIZE. from the dimensions heard elsewhere, I calculate this wheelbase to be 116in so in between the Kia EV6 (114in) and Mustang Mach E (117in) if your looking for a good size reference for a latest generation BEV you can spot at the traffic lights or the grocery store.
