You saying you’re a soft summer is so funny bc in one of my videos I mentioned you as an inspiration for someone who clearly knows “their colors” and has a specific color palette in harmony w their season! I had no clue you were working entirely off instinct!!❤

HAHA I have totally been working off instinct and I'm SO happy my instincts have guided me in mostly the right direction!! 🤣

Thanks Leslie for sharing your unboxing of your Spring Maker's Box! It was so fun to watch and I really enjoyed your podcast...and I agree Audrey is magic with dyeing yarn! Her colors are fabulous and I was so thrilled Dusty Yarn Co was part of this collab! Happy Making!!

👏👏👏👏👏 Ingrid AND Farnham…beautiful work! Leslie, I would love to see a tutorial from you on picking up the underarm stitches for the sleeve…it seems no matter what I do, it’s messy! P.s. can’t wait for e-reader cozy pattern!

They make spinning wheels that fold. My first wheel, the Schacht Sidekick, is about the size of a medium musical instrument and comes in a nice bag. I eventually got a Matchless but I still have my Sidekick because it’s perfect for outside spinning

Just FYI, as a person with an e-spinner (Ashford 3) and a wheel (Louet S17), it's easier to learn how to spin on an e-spinner, mechanical challenges notwithstanding. You don't have to deal with whorls and uptake ratios when a motor is doing the treadling for you. That means you can focus on drafting, something that can take a long time to figure out. Having said this (and I'm no expert on the EEW though I have heard that the small unit has limited usage given its proportions), if you do intend to spin regularly and in volume (for ex, to make a sweater), I think you may need to upgrade to a larger espinner. Those bobbins don't hold a lot of yardage, esp when you're using them to ply. PS: I've heard great things about EEW products and I own their yarn counter which I highly recommend. So not in any way suggesting that the Nano 2 isn't great for travel or for new spinners, just that volume spinning isn't its core feature.

Loved your video as always - your sweaters are looking fab, and it’s really interesting to hear about your spinning journey. Just think how you’ll be at day 20 or 50! It’s so fun that you did your colour analysis too and I’m looking forward to that video. I recently did mine (calm autumn) and while I was skeptical at first, it really does change the game and takes a lot of guess work out of colour selecting , especially when you want to invest in a SQ. I loved the blue yarn in your mystery box for you and glad that it’s a nice colour. I’m off mystery and oopsie sales too.

I have in my Ravelry queue the Tonight Top by Lily Kate France and which is similar to the Mini Mock Neck Tank but has a gauge of 26x36 stitches so would be a lot easier to match

Love your spinning adventures! Several years ago I decided I wanted to spin and so I bought an eSpinner6.0 and I had some frustration with it. I decided I wanted a wheel so I researched and decided to buy a Schacht LadyBug wheel and I have never looked back! I love my LadyBug! Sometimes I use my spinner to ply but it mainly just gathers dust! Check out the LadyBug!! 🐞

Sorry to hear you had such a crap time on the cruise! Yay, I was right, you are a summer. I personally never could figure out what I was in the 12 colourtype-system, only the one with four seasons (spring there). Looking forward to that video of yours!

Hey lovely- just started watching your episode while waiting for the bus😂. If you struggle with the tension for the Mini Mock- I would too!- I think a good alternative might be the Tonight top from Lily Kate France? Deffo something you can tweak to have the mock neck😉

Oh! Ive never knit Jessie Made designs (never even heard of her), but from the very long experience knitting with fingering weight yarn 24 st is way unrealistic gauge. It should be from 28-30 Sts depending on the needles and style of knitting. I would suggest to knit to the measurements, but if the design implies the negative ease, then you might not get the desired object if you use your gauge.

I've noticed that it's super hard to meet gauge on Jessie Maed designs! I always have to pick completely different needles and a completely different size to make things fit right.

You've inspired me to name my nano too! For mine, I'm torn between Eelijah Wool and Eeliot Stapler (instead of Stabler, going with "staple" since that's important for spinning)! What do you think? And I think you should wear your Farnham in Ireland!

That’s too bad about your cruise. Your Ingrid Sweater is stunning. I would not be concerned about the cast off. It will not be noticed and is a beautiful sweater.

Gauge swatching is important only so you know to change needle size if your gauge is wrong. So it’s not the pattern.
@knitcalifornia

I actually knit swatches to see if I like the fabric I'm producing with my needle size + yarn combo. If I go up in needle size, I will end up with a super open fabric, and that is not the intent of the fabric for the pattern or what I want. Everyone has different gauge, so understanding the fabric and then knitting to measurements is typically a good way to go.
@taysialefaber

@@knitcalifornia but if your gauge matches the pattern with the same yarn then it would be the same fabric that was intended.
