I definitely agree with the video, I myself have seen upgraded Ruger 10inch chargers outshoot regular Ruger 16 inch 18-inch Rifles. Another thing to note most people when they spend money on their Ruger charger they make sure they know every In-N-Out Of their pistol Which makes them a better shooter.

I hate the Ruger Charger! I bought one from a fellow that needed money for $200. Its not good for anything except for plinking. I am thinking about turning it into a rifle. I have an extra 16 inch barrel I bought at a gun show a few years back but need a cool stock. According to the ATF its legal to turn a pistol into a rifle with a barrel of 16" or longer and a total length of 26 plus inches with a stock.

Have a Ruger 10/22 and a Henry golden boy, want to get a Henry Mare's leg 22 with a 12" barrel. Don't expect much change in accuracy. Also getting a Henry big boy 44 and want to get a Henry Mare's leg 44. I expect even less difference with those.

You obtain maximum.22 lr energy at around 16.5 inches barrol...18 can start dragging faze depends on quality of your bore different thing's weight of gun even ...so say still at max with some 18 in barrls Humm ya ' tecnogly theres a caliber between.22 lr and .22 magnum, three or four brands of perforce ammo that will do 1550 fps for regular .22 long rifles.

Length is not supposed to matter, right? Lol. You had to know some kind of joke was eventually coming, right? At the onset of the video, my money was on the shorter barrel, assuming that you could hold it as steady as well as the rifle. Enter the BOG Pod. The reason I thought the pistol would win was because I didn't think the round would be super sonic out of the barrel. And I thought the rifle would drop below super sonic mid flight by the time it impacted at 50 yards. That transitional turbulence is supposed to make a difference, all other things being equal. I thought that would be the tie breaker. Shorter barrels are also supposed to have less "whip". That's probably not as big a factor in rimfire as in centerfire though. I still think that if you mounted that short barrel in a rifle stock and then shot more groups with that same ammo under better conditions, that the short barrel would ultimately prevail in accuracy. But perhaps the difference might only be significant in a match. The limited shooting that you did indicates to me that with these two setups there's probably no practical difference in plinking and hunting. Still, I didn't expect even that, so the vid was useful. A 15 MPH wind is 22 fps. If the wind was gusting at your back, that would account for some of your velocity spread. I have no idea how much vertical affect that would have on your POI. Maybe an interesting future test would be to record the chrono readings on each impact point of a 5 to 10 shot group to see if you could detect a rough rule of thumb on if/or how much a 10, 20 or 30 fps variance made in a vertical string? I.e. would the faster rounds be noticeably higher than the marginally slower ones? With your chrono and scope cam I think you might be able to pull that test off. I guess anyone w a chrono could just shoot ten separate targets and the chrono read out would let you differentiate between the show and fast rounds. Hmmm... Another reason I really need to buy a chrono!

What muzzle device on the charger? Does it add inches to the barrel?

Figure there would have been a bigger difference in the fps. Not a big difference all around.👍👍
