Chris Waddle was quite simply on another planet in that 5-0 game. it's still the greatest individual performance I have ever seen. no defence in the world could have stopped him that day. no shame in that result the way he and Wednesday played that day.

Thanks so much for producing my favourite part of the season, Robert. I only missed Sheff.Wed away of all those matches (and what a relief!), I remember there being terrible delays on the tube for Arsenal and panicking. But at 7pm the North Bank was fairly empty! Everybody else had the same trouble. I didnt think about it logically. I think kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes Very magnanimous from Trevor Morley and finally had a decent hair style after a few dodgy years! Le Tissier - "Big nose, he's got a f**king big nose!" At least he smiled about it and admitted when he retired that he'd love to have played for West Ham as it suited his style of football. The home defeat to Spuds hurt. Little did we know that we'd go one better later that season........

I remember that Southampton game, wasn’t planning to go due to work, but then my contract ended early on the Sunday and my mate was told he had to take time off. 10am that morning, my mate to see was up to, 3 hours later we’d swung past Upton Park, picked up two tickets and we just pulling into Southampton in the driving rain. The rest was history, we ran the battery down listening to the radio in the afternoon in his car but thankfully it started after the game. Three points and then we pulled in for petrol on the M3 and the team coach pulled in, we rushed into the cedar and followed the team bus in convoy until the pulled off at the swallow! Great Day!

You got tickets for the game, drive to Southampton but listened to the game in the car instead? I'm a bit confused.

“Same old Arsenal, always cheating!” I was dead level with that incident as my seat was in the West Lower and virtually level with the 18 yard line. Seaman could have caused a nasty neck injury to Morley with that ‘challenge.’

Second season going as a kid mostly got tickets in the East Stand until BM opened. Then had ST in there for 25 years +. Where did they put away fans this season? I always thought West Upper, until they put them BML until the end of the season.

Yes, it happened even in the Premier League era!

Watching the penalties that Dicks, Stewart and Morley put away & how they just run up and smack it, makes me feel that today's PK takers are cheats and cowards. It's not gamesmanship. There should be a rule about an unbroken run up to a penalty.

Agreed. Also I think the stuttering run-up causes more problems for the taker than the keeper!
