The quality of the passenger carriages took me by surprise too. From the wide comfy seats to the ornate leadlight windows.. a great slice of history

the old bull nose haven't seen any running since 83-84 here in WA I wonder if these once were ran by west rail

Australian National had some of the low noses, think they went into service as CK Class but don't hold me to it.

@@RailAustralia when I say banana bender because most of the locos are ex QR (NR) stock, I think our old west rail locos had better power to weight ratio due to being better maintained.. half of the rolling stock if not all of it had a a failure point due to lack of maintenance caused a lot of issues blowing shit to kindom come.. Most of the bull nose, and old units that replaced them ended up between victoria, NSW and the remainder that didn't end up in the local rail society discount bin or hauled off to NZ passenger and freight services.. The QR units running around WA track at present take their looks from older brit rail double head units..
