@@softy8088 I grew up poor and I will likely never see over 25k in my bank account at any given time, subsequently, that is near how much I make in a year, to provide for a 3 person family. I'm disabled, so this is the amount my government thinks it's enough to sustain the three of us. I can't work and will likely never work again. I would do a lot of things for that much money, but even were I physically able, I would absolutely _never_ bring a loaded gun into a house with a child. Sure, some people would, but I still stand by the fact that it is unhinged. There are other ways to deal with this than armed robbery of an extreme minor. People would do it, but that doesn't make it ok. He may as well have robbed a bank for all the legal difference it would make as it would be the morally superior choice and be functionally the same. At the end of the day, he didn't just ”make a kid cry, he brought a loaded weapon into her home and threatened her parents. What happened was the best case scenario for all involved. What could have happened included shooting both parents dead before going into the cold room and shooting her because he was frustrated by the tantrum and couldn't pay the thing from her hands. Or if he would never have intentionally harmed them, guns go off all the time. There's a reason people say not to point a gun at someone you don't intend to kill. On top of all of this, he could have so much as shot off a warning shot while downstairs, in the direction of the little girls room and gotten super unlucky. My point is, he didn't just make a little girl cry, he massively endangered her life and the lives of the people she lived most in the entire world.

The only choice is to slam the door in his face and never give him the chance to get into your house. There’s a chance he might get a shot off and hit u or maybe even kill u but your fear and safety shouldn’t even be a thought because your only focus should be protecting your family and I’m honestly surprised his wife didn’t divorce him after that knowing that he’s totally incapable of keeping them safe and even putting them in more danger.

I knew he had PTSD, as he had perpetual hiccups and took medication for them… but still this guy almost never stopped hiccuping. I wasn’t necessarily afraid of him, but I wasn’t about to let my guard down around him either. He was a lot bigger than me, military trained, and I’m a girl - young at the time. So one day it’s just me and him at the house, and I leave my room to go outside. He stops me and asks if I would like to see something. I say sure, interested to see what he wants to show me. He grabs one of those digital picture frames… it was always on but I never went far enough into his living space to check it out. It is hundreds of pictures of dead Afghan men. Some posed. Some laid out in rows in the street. Holes in their heads. Some with their heads almost completely blown apart. And he just laughed, pointed, hiccuped. I thought he was going to kill me. But no, he just wanted to show me and then return to normal life. I moved out within the week. Terrified the life out of me man.

Well, Babies R US was closing awhile back. I bought a few more bunnies just in case. She had 4 in rotation. A few were chewed up by her dogs at her other house. Right? I have this perfectly lovely Royal Dalton "Bunnykins" (painted with Beatrix Potter bunnies) bowl and cup set that was given to my mom for me when I was born (70s). It's still in the box, still with the original card from the lady who gifted it (I actually did know and still remember her from later years), and has never been used or enjoyed. I looked it up; it's worth maybe $40 - 80, and is on a shelf behind some books collecting dust on the box. Because it was "special". So glad this family didn't hinder their child with guardianship through guilt of items and encouraged "things" to be not only used and enjoyed, but also to remain just things. :D

My mom was the opposite. She'd buy me those special edition barbie dolls (e.i. collectable christmas ones). Then not let me open the nor play with them. I remember having boxed barbie dolls up on top of my bookcase where i couldnt resch them at that age.

The first story: The parents sound over-indulgent, and the child sounds spoiled rotten. It was an opportunity to teach her to do the right and kind thing. I would've just given the doll back especially since it was worth so much money. Instead, the father comes across as greedy and selfish. It was sold by mistake, so just give the dang thing back.

1. He didn’t know the price until the trial. 2. They sold the doll 3. Imagine having a kid who doesn’t play with anything and then finding a toy that she never puts down, are you seriously gonna be the heartless parent who takes away the one toy she actually wants? I don’t think it’s spoiled to not want YOUR toy taken away, it was by all accounts hers. They made that mistake not the parents, and she shouldn’t have to suffer for it

No way I was nodding off through those stories. They were too good! The doll one kept me guessing through the violence, was it drugs or money but I never guessed the doll itself had real value. The doll story brought up one of my biggest childhood regrets lol. My parents owned a very old collecters album from a disney movie with all the stickers from the movie in it. We are talking one of the first disney movies btw. Anyway, they allowed me to have that album in my room among my other kids books and one day, while looking through the album, i figure that i want to be helpful to my parents, to i get a plastic container and start ripping out all of the stickers and put them into the container. I still remember doing it and how happy i was that i was helping my parents. I went to them afterwards with the box and showed them proudly how I had helped them and for whatever reason, my parents just look at it, smile and tell me i did a good job and ask me to hand over the stickers and the album to them. It didnt dawn on me until many years later when I was a much bigger kid what i had done and i confronted my parents with applogies and "why didnt you say anything? Omg, i ruined a family heirloom!!!" And "how much was this album worth????" And they just laughed and were like "well, you didnt know any better so why would we yell at you for that? Also, the album was worth a lot." They never told me what it was worth exactly but omg. I cried about it. I felt so guilty and i didnt udnerstand how they could be so chill about it. Im in my mid 30s today and that memory is still so painful, but i understand my parents' reactions better today. I could never freak out on a toddler who were just trying to help and didnt know any better. Their development and sense of having purpose and being useful to others is worth more than some heirloom album. I know i would react the same as them. But i am still kicking myself for doing that in the first place. I dunno why i thought i was helping. I just rembember feeling like i was helping. I also dunno how old i was. I could have been 2, i could have been 5. I remember things from back when i was 2, which has been confirmed many times, but i always think i was older in the memory than i was because childhood from 2 to 5 is just one long line of events that i cannot contextualize. After 6 i started school so memory is easier to contextualize after that. But yeah. I am pretty sure I must have been 2 or 3 years old for my parents to react this calmly. Im sorry mom and dad. Im so sorry lol
