Be aware! These are the softest parrots! But it means they have dander, a problem if you have allergies.

I caught that lol they make good hats :) I have a 9 month old conure i think she's a she um she is extremely needy she must be on me at all times. She is not bothered by the dog or the cat. They aren't bothered by her either. But just to make myself very clear to the birdie police I do not nor I ever leave her out and alone with either my dog or cat. I am always there we are a blended family but we like it that way

@Kalynn, you may not train the little ones in a formal way; but, you're training them, constantly and naturally,, while you're talking to us. 🌸 I took a trip down your "history lane", rewatching your older ccockatiel video. I think the importance of training depends a lot on the species. I have put a lot of time into training my green cheek because without training he would be a little problematic. My boy lives up to the green cheek reputation - excitable and aggressive. Definitely a little bully. Thankfully he is very obedient which makes him much easier to deal with. I can always reset him when he is acting up by asking him to do something.

In any terms other than mimicry and size, cockatiels are (even though they aren’t related to them) like mini African greys! I had a tiel who produced nearly the amount of dander as my grey! Just imagine how much dander and problems giant cockatiels would cause..... *cockatoos walk on this earth

You are so right...I love my cockatiels, they are social, all of mine are just so sweet that love cuddles in their heads..I have a male that speaks some words..and whistles, yeah super friendly!!! Don.t think they make that much noise.. mine never bit me...the only thing is a lot of" dust" comes out of them, Right my 4 cockatiels are afraid of my baby green cheek conure, . Another thing that happens sometimes at night is " night scares" where they get frightened at start flying inside the cage in the dark and they can get hurt...
@ParrotBliss
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, they do get the night scares - which means I think they are safer in their cages than out. Fantastic birds- I'm not surprised that yours has not bitten you nor that he/she doesn't like your GCC!

@@ParrotBliss yeah mine go to their cages at night...sometimes out of nothing they get scared of something...and start flying inside the cage and then they all start doing this..scary for me when this happens...i go there, and open the lights and then try to calm them down...don.t want them to get hurt...i think this happens more with cocktiels

I can’t get my two to let me near them 😭 they’re very jumpy and flighty. They are gentle I will agree with that, they will fly away rather than confront you. But I’m finding taming a real challenge.

@ThePurpleLotus1

I recently got my first bird, a cockatiel (she’s a whiteface Pearl like yours!) and I’m absolutely beguiled by her. She’s just the sweetest little thing and she wants nothing more than to be near me and fortunately I’m able to spend a lot of time with her. Do you have any thoughts on keeping a green cheek conure and a cockatiel in the same household (separate cages, supervised together time) You mentioned that cockatiels don’t really defend themselves and I have heard that gcc’s can be bullies. Would it matter if I were to get a baby gcc so that it gets used to my cockatiel from a very young age? I’m hesitant to get a second cockatiel because I’m struggling with the dander from just one. She seems to be doing well on her own because I do have the time to spend with her, so my options would be to get a different bird of another species (I greatly prefer gcc’s over budgies) or just have her be an only bird and I be her “flock”. She’s just over a year old, so if it would be better to get a second bird while she’s young, I should think about it sooner rather than later. Thanks so much, I really enjoy your channel! -Fia & Ryn

Yes, GCC can be aggressive. Any combination is possible, but I would choose another species that is also not aggressive, like a Budgie, Linnie, Broto... Thanks for watching! Hope that helps!
