They look for a challenge and I stand My ground and most of the time they back off, however one time a guy just literally in seconds jumped on Me and smashed My face in seconds with about 20 punches. Guy broke My eye socket in seconds I pushed him away trying to het distence but the damage was done. The reason why He was able to get Me was because He got out his car and ran towards me and was already throwing punches before My bike hit the floor. I also had a backpack on and didn't get it off Me and I was trying to make sure He could not grab it. Since then I make sure to never wear anything that can be grabbed or anything that could restrict My ability to move. Most of the time I wear nothing but a shirt while cycling even in winter. Well I mean, as much as I want to agree with you on emotion... Objectively speaking your statement is a bit delusional. Maybe amongst fighters, the quiet one is the dangerous one and even then it's quite debatable. Otherwise it's just ridiculous, how is a tame emotional disposition relevant to being a threatening fighter? If anything I would argue quite the opposite in general. As a general trend, someone vocal about violence will be more capable to execute said violence. You are just being deluded by underdog movies and culture. For each underdog being the real deal in real life, you have probably 10.000 losers incapable of violence, who just want to stay away from it out of fear, not out of temperance and stoic restraint. I am not making an apology towards unnecessary violence or anything, nor should any man be hasty to violence. But come on, this underdog fantasy is quite dangerous. Stop making this fake equivalence between emotional temperance and martial prowess, it's just plain non-sensical.

I started noticing this when I was a very young kid and it never changed, every one who tries to start crap for no reason (anyone you would call a bully, basically), needs about 3 or 4 guys with him to start crap with one guy, unless the one guy is half his size. Maybe they'll pick on someone their own size one on one if they have a gun or a knife or something. Something happened when I was 9 that caused me to realize I was about 3 times stronger than the average boy my age, I was just born that way. At about 12, I got in a fight with an average guy (average size & strength) and I dropped him in one punch, about a year later, I got into a fight with a guy who was known for being a good fighter, pretty tough, took me about 20-30 sec to wipe the floor with him, knowing this, how scared do you think I was of any one of the bullies who came after me in my life? One on one, I knew I could have taken any one of them easily but they never attacked one on one, apart from the guy who threw a bottle at my head from behind when I never saw it coming at 21, every other bully who ever came after me had a big gang of guys backing him up (unless he was hiding behind a computer screen). Every time it would happen, I’d wait to catch one of them by himself and planned to take him apart, but when I ran into them by themselves, they act so nice they make me feel bad about wanting to beat them up and I guarantee you that’s exactly what his plan was.

1 they remain very calm when noticing that a fight might break out 2 try to avoid fighting in a calm and assertive way 3 when you actually fight them, theyll defeat you, but without unnecessary violence afterwards when your knocked out or beaten into submission. Though, some people who know how to fight can also be bad people and misuse their experience and knowledge. Though most real fighters follow the upper 3 rules

Another telltale sign of a trained fighter- his/her footwork. You gave the example of stepping back to give him/herself space. In so doing, s/he will move his/her front foot first- then his/her rear foot. Same concept with lateral/diagonal movement. The opposite foot will move first. The idea behind this is s/he is staying balanced. Moving the rear foot or same foot when moving laterally or diagonally will affect his/her balance.

Now I'm a 74 yr old woman, but as a kid in school, other girls tried to bully me, I didn't fight at first, My mom told me fighting was not right. so I didn't but I just walked away. Now I was a little girl. then it happened. a boy came up and thought it would be fun to push me up against the wall. I never chewed my nails, I drove my nails into his arms and drew back till his arms ran blood., He was screaming like a little girl. I had to go to the principals office. And they called his parents. After that, If a girl tried to push me, (my dad was a WWII vet and taught me how to trip someone from behind. so I did. When a girl tried to push me down. She ended up on her back again screaming. waaaaa, From that time on I never put up with bullies. I was not very large at all, i never said a word about it, but I could sure stand up for myself.

If you have stiff ears, you’re more likely to get cauliflower ear. If your ears are flimsy and can be bent in all ways, then you are less likely. My dad and uncle played rugby for 30 years, one has caulis, the other doesn’t.

I saw an old dude say, "I'm sorry." With utmost sincerity to a young gym rat that was assaulting him just before Grandpa took him apart. He even rolled him into recovery position, protected his airway, and waited for the popo. Gym rat caught a case for assaulting a senior. That dude was a class act. He looked like a librarian. Don't assume you know what someone that knows how to fight "looks like."

This is great advice. I don’t have the ear damage, but the other two have caused two random idiots to stand down in the last 10 years. And it has saved their lives. If I didn’t know how to fight, I would’ve gone for my EDC concealed carry. For those of you that carry. Learn how to fight. Doesn’t have to be crazy serious. Most people have no clue how to start, survive, or finish a fight. It will keep your head calm without ruining lives.

These are 3 great tips inside a couple of minutes. If I can piggyback on the 2nd tip about spacing. Take a look at their footwork. Their feet can tell you what the rest of their body and their hands might not tell you. For example, my particular stance would be a dead giveaway. With that being said, some are quite subtle, but if you're looking for it, you'll catch the adjustment that they make to their stance. Great video!

The 3rd one hit hard. For someone who grew up fighting a lot from teen to my 20's. Then started boxing early 20's till now. I said this to my friend yesterday, I Said I would never fight anyone now, because I know how dangerous it can get. I also do a lot of weight lighting. I weigh 86kg and can box like a 135 pounder.

Here’s my top 3 on the same topic, this time tho, my experience is the street with 7 yrs of homelessness as a youth and in the Punk subculture; Top 3 signs someone knows how to fight : #1 - They don’t want to fight you. #2 - They’re not trying to intimidate you #3 - They’ll give you every opportunity to back down.
