I always record vocals with open backed headphones since I tend to sing more naturally with them than with closed back. All you have to do is reverse the phase of one of the ears, which won't be noticeable to the singer but it phase cancels out to the mic so only the vocal ends up getting recorded. This is a very common technique, often used when recording without headphones at all, instead using studio monitors.

What a coincidence. I'm using the K44's (semi-closed) I can't afford new fully closed headphones at the moment. Any tips?

Im thinking that a good pair of In ears might be good for tracking! Seems like the last couple years theres been alot more professional In ears coming out in the market, but Ive never seen anyone actually track wearing in ears, so I dont know if theres a reason, but I think it might work good??? any thoughts anyone??

The in ears will bleed, but I saw a guy on KZitem put ear muffs over them and it killed the bleed. A cheap solution.
