Ik this is a stupid question, but what’s the difference between deathstep and minatory?
@LiquidChrome98
3 жыл бұрын
Anyone can correct me if im wrong. I watched Deathstep grow but im not too clear on the subgenres. From what i understand Deathstep has become an umbrella term for both Tearout and Minatory. Tearout would have been what Deathstep sounded like when it first became a thing and well into it's history for awhile. Sound design involves alot of distortion on top of metallic bass design with punchy drums and experimental snares. Some examples include artists like Static:Reset (Code:Pandorum before), GRAFFON, KRAM, Poseiden, Qoiet, and Pancode Minatory is a much more extreme, atmospheric, and darker take which often incorporates distorted harsh noise on top of metallic bass design. This is also accompanied by atmospheric chords that make you feel uneasy like in a horror movie. Again also with punchy drums and experimental snares. Some examples include artists like Influx, Qroh, Moth, Venom, Punishment, and Fester.

@Multorum Unum no. The "Dub" in "Dubstep" comes from the "Dub" in "Dub Reqqae" which was a movement in the late 60s-70s which focused on using remixing roots reggae tracks, usually stripping out the vocals, bringing the drums and bass to the forefront of the mix, and adding echo and reverb effects to add a heavy spacy feel. When dubstep started shifting away from 2-step garage, the producers at the time thought "dubstep" an appropriate term as they were basically using dub reggae production practices, but applying it to 2step garage instead of roots reggae. "dub" has nothing to do with the drum pattern lol, that's where the "step" comes from

lol ok, let's go to the correction, i will only mention the wrong ones and highlight some. 01 - UK Dubstep yes, this is UK Dubstep, and it is the main genre. 02 - Substep no, its not a thing. its just UK Dubstep, its on spectrun. 03 - Post Dubstep it's a great story, but it can be considered a sub genre. 05 - Drumstep yes, Drumstep by definition is Brostep with Jump Up DnB, but can use another genre like Darkstep or Hardstep DnB sometimes. 07 - BRiddim Brostep with sound design by Riddim or Riddim with Drums and Sound Design by Brostep. I didn't consider it, it's Brostep. 11 - Metalstep yea, its. 12 - "Wubstep" lol its Complextro. 13 - Trapstep Hybrid Trap (Festival or Dirty Trap with Brostep). but by Trapstep you can refer to when Brostep predominates, not Trap (Brostep with Trap infulencies 15 - Roobstep It is not a thing, just Brostep 16 - Vomitstep it's just Snails Brostep signature. 19 - Wobblestep just modern UK Dubstep. 20 - Filthstep its Proto Brostep technically, when Brostep was developing. 23 - Liquid Dubstep Liquid Dubstep is different from Chillstep, and this is Chillstep too. 26 & 27 - Melodic Riddim and Future Riddim correct. both are not the same, Melodic Riddim is Riddim with Melodic Dubstep sound design. Future Riddim is Riddim with Future Bass sound design. both use a production Techniue called Color Bass that is not a sub genre, and it can be used in Melodic Dubstep as well. 28 - Futurestep yes, Future Bass with Melodic Dubstep, better call it Future Melodic Dubstep. gr8 example is Illenium. 29 - Animestep lol, its just Brostep with anime sapmles 30 - Nightstep as u mentioned in the description, its not a sub genre. its just Nightcore in Melodic Dubstep. and you forgot Liquid Drumstep lel, but dope video boi u forgot some fusion genres like Dubstyle, Cumbiastep, but itsnot necessaruy

Here's a few things that are incorrect in the video 1 - Drumstep isn't a dubstep subgenre, it's a drum & bass subgenre. (I read the description, but it's still wrong. Drumstep is still a drum & bass subgenre, even if modern drumstep resembles dubstep more.) 2 - Wubstep isn't an actual dubstep subgenre. -The example shown is electro house (complextro) with a brostep drop. 3 - The actual name for "trapstep" is hybrid trap, which is a trap subgenre, not a dubstep subgenre. 4 - Vomitstep isn't an actual subgenre. -The example shown is hybrid trap. 5 - Glitchstep isn't an actual subgenre. -The example shown is brostep that almost borders on being drumstep (it's 157BPM). 6 - Wobblestep isn't an actual subgenre. 7 - Filthstep isn't an actual subgenre. -The example shown is melodic dubstep. 8 - Chillstep and liquid dubstep are the same subgenre. 9 - Melodic drumstep isn't a dubstep subgenre. 10 - Future riddim and melodic riddim are the same thing. 11 - Futurestep isn't an actual subgenre, it's just melodic dubstep with future bass and/or future trap influences. 12 - Kawaiistep isn't an actual subgenre. -The example shown is drumstep. 13 - Nightstep isn't an actual subgenre. Most of the time, nightstep just ends up being high-pitched drumstep. (Again, I know about the description.)

@@spillikyn9128 It doesn’t matter if it describes exactly what you like. All it does is clutter up everything with useless fake subgenres with very little meaning behind them. If I make a dubstep song with bell sounds in it, does it suddenly get called “Bellstep”? Does it become a completely evolved and new thing that must have a name for itself? At least subgenres like Drumstep or Briddim make sense. These subgenres actually take already made genres and combines the ideas of both equally to make an actual new thing.
