Oh boy. When the princess said maze...well, I suppose this fits.
A series of doorways will navigate the corridors of the maze, but picking the wrong one will loop you back to the beginning endlessly. And while there isn't a time limit per se, you will more than likely run out of life force trying to find the path forward.
However the "sign" your looking for just might be enemy placement. And what enemy rarely shows up in this level? Skeletons. Perhaps finding where one pops up is a hint...?
That bit of game commentary aside...
Most of this stage features the same assets, albeit color swapped between the areas denoting the correct path forward.
If anything most of this stage is a lot like the first level, Remlia with door frame sticking out from the wall as well as large statues on pedestals. Not to mention windows and scarab lanterns.
However, once we get to the top of the maze, we're on the castle ramparts where brick walls and starry sky can be seen. Nothing really of note.
A fight with the miniboss and then we challenge the right-hand man of Blackhorn, Thorndog. (What a weird name for a reaper-wraith!)
A fight with him and victory! But wait! What's this? A TRAP! He's linked his dying life force to yours, threatening to take you into death? That's low!
It's here that Astyanax and Cutie part ways as the faerie must sacrifice her life to undo Thorndog's Seal. Only with her life force given up can our hero proceed. And thus he vows Blackhorn will die for this.
Cheat codes again used to accelerate progress. Not intended as a walkthrough, though it's turning out to be one. That said, this is still a showcase of the 3D Profile.
