At some point in our lives we reach a point of excess weight. And as I'm recording this video in December, I've got holiday eating on my mind. ;)
Yin yoga poses have an emphasis on longer holds in each position as we focus on our breathing, giving time for deeper work to take place.

Our focus for this yin yoga sequence is to slow down and take time to connect with our body.
As we spend time on our yoga mat we develop mindfulness and intuition. We become more aware of our bodies needs and able to listen and respond. So as our yoga practice develops, we leave the mat and continue to feel a deeper intuition to what & when we need to eat. Making better choices!
Another benefit is the calming effect. Having elevated cortisol levels (from stress and busyness) will cause your body to hold on to unwanted body fat! Even though your day may still be jam packed with projects & never ending to do lists, prioritizing time for yourself with this meditative practice will have a lasting, calming, centering effect. In a restful state, your body will enter the digestive process.
Make sure you schedule in yin yoga several times a week. Try it during different times of the day and see the difference in how you feel and how your body changes! Let me know how you're doing in the comments thread below!
