Throwback to a year ago, I bought a set of dumbbells and wanted to start training. I went on youtube and searched for "dumbbell only workouts" All the other videos were too complicated for me, but John's videos were straight to the point and John explained all the exercise's thoroughly. After each home workout i was eagerly waiting for the next video to pop up so I could try it next. His videos got me into fitness again. Very sad to hear of his passing. RIP

I got overwhelmed with sadness watching John's videos today. I then proceeded to create all the exercise videos in this series in the HEVY app with all the detail for others to follow, as a tiny tribute. I hope that's alright. I wish everyone in John's family are going strong despite the loss. My thoughts go out to the twins. It's not easy and what happened is so, so unfair. It's heart warming to see that John's legacy lives on with thousands and thousands of us that have been blessed with his kindness.

I have a home gym. I have lower back problems so I do the kickbacks with dumbbells using an adjustable bench lying flat on my stomach. It feels great without putting stress on my back from bending over, I've gotten results pretty fast too. I also use the resistance bands the kind that attach to the door.

I was doing that 2nd exercise for a few weeks then last time I thought let's step it up! So I laid my back sideways on a chair. Used 1 heavy dumbell with both hands. Started doing that tricep movement until I felt tired, then went straight into a lat pullover, then back to triceps, then back to lats and so on for 3 supersets. Felt amazing. I then finished off doing halos. I train total upper body twice a week and love finishing with halos

I have watched a number of your training videos. You have a great understanding of muscles and how to develope them. I am an older (60's) masonry guy in excellent shape / condition with a very strong heart. I hit the gym 2-3 times a week for last 3 years +. I've worked my arms up from 15" to 16 1/2" but seem to be stuck there. Is it because of my age ( mid 60's) that I can't get above 16 1/2" ? I've tried protein supplements etc. I mostly use dumbell's from 40-75 lbs. & barbells with some cable work thrown in. Is there something I may be doing wrong ? Or is it just "old muscles" that won't grow ? Any help would be sincerely appreciated. Gary.... Delaware.
