Thanks so much!! I'm SO happy you challenged me to find the preimage algorithm, I was beginning to think it wasn't possible. I need to make a followup about the random openings, too, I think I've figured out why, and it could happen about half the time with these locks :)

@@prevarikation Yes those 'random' openings deserve a look!

Too bad Master discontinued this lock. I loved them since you could unlock it in the dark.

Great work! It seems that this mechanism would be pretty good if the mechanism prevented pulling the shackle while entering the code. For example, there could be button in the middle of sliding part that must be pressed before the shackle can move and it would lock the sliding part in the middle while pressed inside.

That would be an excellent modification! I really wish there were still active licensees for this lock mechanism.

@@prevarikation I guess we'll need to wait until the patents expire before improved variants can enter the market. As usual, patents simply hinder innovation.

If you haven't already, I really recommend reading the paper by Michael Huebler on the Speed Dial (it should be in the video links.) It gives a much clearer perspective on what's happening inside the lock as we move. Thank you for putting in the effort to learn with this video, it makes me very happy to know that it might be helpful to someone :)
