Today’s video is all about How to sing when you are sick…or better said. How to NOT sing when you’re sick. By that I mean, we’ll go over some tips on how you can better understand your kind of “sickness” and what you can do to keep you connected with your voice while your body takes the necessary time to heal.
This is going to allow you to establish better communication with your body, so that you can help it get through the sickness, while maintaining great technique for singing. Even if you HAVE TO sing while you are sick.
Here’s 4 sounds that you can do to keep you connected and in touch with your voice.
1. Hiss sounds - This is great if you can’t sing at all! It’s keeps you connected to great breathing techniques. And is super productive in building support.
2. Glottal stops - This is a tiny unit of sound that will help keep your chords connected and I find that it relieves pressure. Keep it gentle and keep it small.
3. Lip trill - This will also help balance pressure inside and reinforces that feedback of breath to face without overcompensating on the throat.
4. Vocal fry
I hope you found this video helpful! Remember to check back often for more singing tips or leave me a question in the comments portion of today’s video! Thank you so much for joining me I’ll see you next time!
