Metal albums starting with an acoustic intro are the best.

One of the best things, I find about the acoustic guitar is just being able to pick up and play instantly, without going the through process of setting up an electric rig and getting to the tone you want. One thing my neighbour who also plays and has been playing longer than me, recommended on acoustic is learning the basic 12 bar blues, I was not really a fan of blue music in general, but just learning the basics on it gave me more of an appreciation for blues music and then you can see from there how it influenced so much guitar music since then, best of all its pretty straightfoward to learn, its another avenue to explore.

I'm a beginner, been learning riffs and lead parts from my favourite songs and I only have an acoustic guitar. Each time I do it, it hurts like hell, but I'm getting used to the pain, and I'm gonna get an electric soon! I hope my metal guitar playing goes from 0 to 0-0-0-0 real quick!

I really like this video and all these tips. I play in an all original hard rock band, that borderlines metal. I actually write every single song on the acoustic before I translate it to electric. Not only does this help me because it’s very clear to hear all the melodies in intricacies, but it makes it easy to play them on both as opposed to me having to take something I’ve written on electric and rearrange it for acoustic. It also helps me because I sit while I’m watching TV and practice my scales and riffs and things on the acoustic so by time I get to the electric things are a lot easier and Cleaner. I’ve been writing all my music for the last 23 years on acoustic first. So I really appreciate these tips and I think it’s really important whether you play heavy metal or not to definitely get on the acoustic once in a while.

Back in my day I learned bluegrass music with my Martin travel acoustic guitar ( 1 octave less than standard guitar) to learn guitar playing , timing , rhythm, etc. When I got my 1st new electric Les Paul sg400 my fingers were all set to learn my next 12-14 songs. Also when I get a brain fart with my electric guitar , I’ll put it down and then pick up my Martin acoustic to figure out riffs , timing , etc. Always keep an acoustic guitar around to soar your playing abilities I say ...

What’s really intimidating when you play really good with an audiences and then really young 9 - 13yrs old kids out perform you with same songs, 😂 😂😂. It’s pretty sweet when you go to bluegrass fest and no one ask “ what key your in ? “ .... you just start playing and go with flow, it’s awesome.

I played Acoustic for almost 20 years casually and have only recently bought my first electric guitar. The benefits of playing acoustic is that you’ll never have to plug it in to hear the tone your playing vs electric it sounds best when plugged in. Acoustic is a little harder to play vs electric is just so linear and easy to slide down those frets. If your beginning as a musician my advice? Start with perhaps a ukulele, then electric, and then acoustic to see if a guitar would be your thing, musically. Cheers 🥂 Keep up the great work 👍👍

I play open chords all the time on my electric guitar. In fact most of the songs I wrote, use open chords. Of course I like power chords too. PS. I hate mustard. 30degrees is hot in Britain. People would be sunbathing in that. I can't play in front of anyone, I forget everything I ever learnt LOL

Well yeah plating guitar often Will make you a better player. But saying that playing acoustic Will make you a better metal player is like saying “driving a 4 x4 Will make you a better formula 1 driver” 😁

Dude, it's all perspective, and I appreciate yours. I find that when someone just focuses on metal 100% of the time, too much is lost in other areas. And oftentimes building those other areas can make you better overall, which in turn can indeed help you become a better metal guitarist, as well. And when I say 'better' I don't mean just playing faster metal riffs. I also mean it from a creative perspective and unleash new ideas that you may not get playing the same guitar and style over and over. Hopefully, that makes sense! A perfect example is Mr. Miyagi. Wax on, wax off (cleaning your car) seemingly hasd nothing to do with karate. Yet we learned that it built the foundation for that style and made one better at karate.
