Dr Ahana Aurora Fernandez is a postdoctoral researcher at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin and a visiting postdoctoral fellow at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. She is a behavioural biologist and fascinated by social vocal communication in bats. In particular, her research focuses on investigating proximate mechanisms of vocal production learning and exploring vocal ontogenetic processes. In addition, she started to educate herself in neuroethology - to study speech-relevant genes and their functional role in vocal learning processes.
