This was just the video I was looking for! I've had this exact TV for a few months but could never figure out what to set in-game HDR brightness to. Now I know. 😁

I can’t wait to measure the peak brightness of my 55” C2. I haven’t done it yet, bc I was in the break in process. I took some SDR measurements with HCFR last night, and was amazed how close this set was, with only a 2pt that I did, perceptually matched to an iPhone 11 Pro Max with TrueTone disabled. It was nearly perfect D65 according to HCFR. I’m not sure if I can fully trust HCFR without a spectro/profile, and the two OLED EDR’s they have. Especially since we have these newer “Evo” panels. But the fact it was showing good results, and the panel looks great to me, tells me it’s on the right track. Gotta say…I absolutely love my 55” C2. I came from a 55” CX that I liked, but didn’t love. That set had a rough start, with all the FW bugs, like broken DoVi. It tainted the experience from the start. It also struggled a lot with SDR, especially low bit-rate content. It just could look very ugly. LG’s processing this year is a huge step up imo. It reminds me a lot of Sony’s. There’s just a clarity and native sharpness advantage Vs my CX. I’ve never felt my C2 was dim. Not at all. Quite the opposite. My CX could feel dim at times tho. My CX also liked to dilute colors a bit more than my C2, at those higher luminance levels. Don’t get me wrong, white subpixel dilution is still there, but it’s not nearly as immersion breaking/distracting. The colors just stay a bit more pure, and saturated. This is why I’m excited for QDO, in a year or two! No white subpixel dilution, and bettet HDR impact. But until then…this C2 just puts a smile on my face.

100% agree. I wasnt expecting much from the C2 honestly, esp considering the 42" model was likely to be WBC again. REgardless, its been a pretty noticeable improvement over the C1 in multiple ways. Better motion handling, better upscaling, better shadow detail, better brightness, faster menu navigation and app loading, better/lighter frame composite, full bandwidth HDMI 2.1. Its also quite accurate in filmmaker mode right out of the box. I too cannot wait for LG to make a QD oled in the 42" form factor. That would be amazing for monitor usage and personal gaming.

I have a 42 c2 waiting with my stuff in storage as im moving back on the east coast. I can't wait to mess with it. My cx decided to have horizontal Lines on the panel just when im about to move. Well at least it was a good timing. I guess i abused it 😂

I have the 42" C2 as my new main display on my PC. It is absolutely fantastic. I upgraded from a AW3418DW. This C2 is the best PQ I've seen and the extra vertical space over the Alienware QD-OLED is a winner. The ABL is noticeable on the desktop for sure but I can live with it. I've been playing Metro Exodus in HDR and it fucking blows my mind how good it looks.

Looks about the same compared to 48" c1 if I remember correctly. Maybe a bit dimmer. That's still MORE than enough for usage at your desk. I find on 48" c1, exiting a cave in uncharted4, playing in the evening is very very bright and vivid. So the brightness wars are kinda stupid. I don't think anybody wants that cave opening to be more than 500-800 nits. Let alone 2000 :p

The nit readings were comparable between filmmaker mode and game optimizer on the C2. No major changes. However, the C2 is brighter than the C1, esp in smaller windows.

Dude I just got the 42” C2. I was waiting for the PG42UQ but I saw a side by side comparison and the LG looked way better so I went right to Best Buy and grabbed one. I am coming from the PG27UQ also. I am sort of missing the higher peak brightness but I also have only used the LG for like 6 total hours since I bought it. I have 2 weeks to return it. I hope I end up keeping it. Some games do look incredible and better on the Lg than the ROG but those little peaks seem brighter on PG27UQ. Idk we’ll see.

@@LexLutha I did miss the brightness for the first week or so but the haloing really bugged me so I got over it quickly Couple things I did which made the C2 much better. IMO , main thing was change the color space to limited , this was the biggest change for me , if it is set to full there is a Grey hazy look to the picture and color looked washed out , it does crush blacks but I much prefer this image and suggest you test it out as I spent 3 days testing settings but could not get full to look any good. Also I use the sport picture preset in the game optimizer as I find the color and brightness is much better , I did adjust it a bit but sport looks better to my taste

This video was funny because you were in what Italians would call the “buio” or murky darkness. The shadows were masking your face. I don’t quite understand why there are quite a few KZitemrs that are studying various aspects of OLED technologies. I mean, if the picture is CLEAR relatively speaking, what fun is it to study all the brightness levels, banding issues, etc and make these vlogs about it? I didn’t understand anything you were talking about in this video but I found it funny that you featured Nathan Drake on this LG C2 branded video. I think if there was a metaphor for LG TVs, it might be Nathan Drake and for Sony’s, maybe 🤔 The Last of Us or Joel & Ellie. So far, the Sony’s have more punch 🥊 from what I’ve seen in the stores.

you dont understand why people make tech videos about TVs or what i was talking about? lol This was a pretty basic video about oled brightness in game mode. Nothing particularly complex. And people make TV and tech videos all the time because 1) its fun and a hobby 2) we're geeks 3) these videos help people make educated buying decisions.

@@steadychaosproductions3376 What I’m saying is that your videos are like going to some OLED conference of sorts if that’s the right analogy and measuring the brightness of the panels for example. What I have been searching for is more video footage on The Last of Us Part I - the tech used in that remake because I believe the same engine was used that made Part II and just more information regarding this new game. Naughty Dog has put some stuff out there from Summer Game Fest I guess but I always want more. I haven’t learned anything really from your videos because they are like going back to some science classroom but I get a kick out of your style.

@@OneBlackButton "I havnt learned anything really from your videos because they are like going back to some science classroom." This is an oxymoron. Did you not learn anything from science classes in high school? lol I was thinking about making a new video on the TLOU remake. I think its cools its coming to pc, but i also think its a cash grab.

@@steadychaosproductions3376 What I meant was that I watch your videos and some are OK but this last one where you are discussing NITS, I didn’t really follow. I actually got really good grades in the majority of my science classes into college. I took Basic Chemistry for example. I just would rather find different content - for example, the making of Callisto Protocol, the story of Dead Space, or videos on this remake of The Last of Us. I enjoy it when you divert from panel technologies and maybe show a game on the screen or something and talk about it. 😂
