This is the problem here in uk. You pay for 4g after and few months you get 3g speeds. You pay for 5g and it's just tiny bit faster than 4g

It's like they're almost forcing you to switch to the new 5G network, buy a new 5G capable device to get the same speeds you used to get 2 years ago on 4G LTE...

@@TechBlock It's all lies by these companies. I am getting 20-30mb on 5G on latest iPhone and Samsung. Basically they advertise and tell you 5G is way fast than 4G. They don't tell about the limits of any mobile network. They don't tell that the more mobile Internet users on one antenna the lower the speed will get. I had similar experience with fast fibre broadband. The service provider claimed I will get 80mb. After a few months, I was getting less than 1mb speeds during peak times. I called the service provider many times in the end they said they have added too many users on their network in my area, this is why the speed has gone so slow

Please take the battery out of the mifi/router (after discharging it to ~60%) if you're going to use it plugged in all the time - Modern devices tend to "overcharge" their batteries to about 4.35/4.4V to get the extra capacity which can cause battery damage if left topped up to that level for a while (it's mostly ok if you're charging discharging as it's not overcharged _all_ the time)

I had mobile broadband and was getting between 500 and 700mbps and 14 ping and I tried gaming and it was a terrible experience. Random jitters and lag all the time. The ping and jitter will be too erratic at random times.
@aro7975
Жыл бұрын
@Kris Nicholson It was due to the erratic ping spikes and changed in speed is, the connection that the mobile broadband was providing. This was tested via wireless and ethernet from my devices to the router. I also tried regular fixed 100mb fibre to the cabinet broadband and no issues whatsoever over a plethora of games. Finally, was able to get 1gb Fibre to the home and again no issues at all. Mobile broadband has frequent changes in speed during peak times due to more using the service and impacting others. It is not stable. Because it's not a fixed speed , the speed could be 500mb, but randomly read as 2mb for a split second etc. This is the same for the ping. The ping can micro spike from 14 to 114 to 1114 etc and back to normal causing in game stutters and lag and even appear as if the game is freezing for a second and back to normal.
@sheeeessh

@Kris Nicholson 5G and Fiber in my area are both equally as reliable. 5G adds a bit more on latency, but they're equally as reliable. I pay for 600mbps fiber, and as expected I get 600mbps down, and a little over 950 up. My ISP is PLDT (Philippines). For 5G, I get 300-500mbps down and about 80 up, at least where I live. I am in a rural area so this speed is kind of to be expected. In more urbanized areas I see speeds upwards of 800mbps. The best part however is that the speeds I'm getting don't drop during peak hours (8pm), lowest I've gotten is about 310~mbps. The Mobile Network I use here is Smart (Philippines). The only complaint I have is with 4G speeds, otherwise. 5G is great, my network operator is also starting to roll out 700mhz on 5G.

I don't have a mobile broadband device (just use my phone), but I've tried playing stuff on 4G before, and it's a good experience except for me being capped to 4GB. I've played stuff such as Splatoon 3 and Roblox before on 4G and it's been a smooth experience. I've never really gotten anything higher than 200mbps download for 4G, and I'm on an EE MVNO, average I tend to get is around 20-50mbps.

How are you connecting the Orbi compared the the M5 as the performance figures you are giving for wifi with M2 and M5 are coming from your Netgear Wifi Router as your just using that as the modem with wifi turned off. So does the Orbi work better than the M5 without using the wifi router ?
