An interesting tidbit: when this train is traveling from Aizu-Wakamatsu to Aizu-Tajima, you can sometimes hear the old JNR automatic train stop warning alarms. This is because this part of the line used to be owned by JNR and still abides by JNR signal rules. The route from Aizu-Tajima south to Kinogawa Onsen is owned by Tobu Railways, and as such has different automatic train stop warning systems.

Back then I spent a lot of time watching Aizu-Wakamatsu webcam. Especially on Sundays, when a steam engine would come. I believe I once saw the Emperor's train too.
