Loving these videos, this was very interesting as I too work as a Property Manager in London and have a marketing degree like Cassandra. These flexible jobs seem like really good options. Though, I cant think of many other flexible roles, if Cassandra was interested in leaving her current Property Manager role, tin the next few months, there is potential to earn a lot more money than she is currently earning. She could also use her ARLA qualification to command an even higher salary. The government is introducing that by the end of this year all Property Managers need to be ARLA qualified. In my current company they want us all to do our exams in September. I understand her main goal is the flexibility of hours to spend time with her child, but it could be something to bare in mind.

I trained as a teachers assistant and get the same holidays as my child. It is never going to make me rich but it’s very rewarding and is perfect for good work life balance. I’m also a single Mum with a marketing degree and have a decade of full time experience in insurance.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm studying AAT level 3, started as a Bookkeeper 1 day a week in Jan. Have EA experience and been working as an Admin Assistant 2 days a week just because it works for my family. It's tough as a mum. Good luck Cassandra 🙌

Hi Ken & Mary, cracking video. Looking for a little advice. I am currently unemployed, but currently studying with OU business management & accounting. The target is to get train to become a chartered accounting within 5/6 years. Do you have any advice of how to land the first trainee accounting job to start building some work experince? I have emailed and tried to contact a number of business with no luck so far. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I'd highly suggest focusing on smaller firms. Make them an offer of work experience for little or no fees if you can afford to. Even if they paid for your travel costs (if you need to go in), it will be worth your while in time. This is how I started. I earned next to nothing working for a 2 person accounting firm for work experience. It was invaluable and gave me the confidence I needed when looking for a proper training contract. I got that initial job as the guy was my mum's accountant. So start by asking friends and family if they can connect you with their accountant for work. Now that people are working from home, it makes it even easier for someone to accept you as you won't take up office space. Hope that helps?

@@TheHumblePenny Thanks for the reply 👍🏻 yeah that's great help to be honest. I can appreciate with the climate atm it's going to be difficult to get a position in a medium sized firm. Thanks again for the advice 👍🏻

Amazing advice, thank you! Just wondering where can we find those online jobs, any suggestions? One website I know is upwork but do you guys know better ones?

Hi Nataliya, Thank you 😊. Some of the sites that we mentioned give you an indication. Unwork and People Per Hour are great for freelance jobs. Otherwise, you get those jobs either via referral or via specialist recruiters. Search in Google, e.g. Recruiters for Bookkeeping or Recruiters for Business Analyst etc.
