You do realise that you can own any unclassified military aircraft, as long as you do two things. 1. Remove all classified or otherwise protected military equipment. 2. Unless you want to register your aircraft as a destructive device and pay for a $200 tax stamp. Remove the targeting pod and/or weapon stations depending on the aircraft. The only real limiting factor is money.

I was thinking the same thing. Claiming aerobatic capabilities necessitates a decent g load capability. Just because they look like it, doesn't mean they are capable. Some of these may be no more capable than a C172 for all we know, and the sleek aero design could be simply for speed and distance performance.
@citysoundfm

As an LSA these aircraft have to be certified to minimum +4-2 gs here in the USA. If they are certified for aerobatics then it’s +6-3 gs. That’s minimum as per regulation. They may very well be more than those numbers.

The second and third airplanes are based on the Asso Jewel X. Since this video was published Fisher Aircraft in Canada will soon be offering their version in a quick build kit called the Aria. I'm sure the completed price will be much less than these in the video. And the cool thing is that it will be wood like the Falco and GP4. Also, these are called ultralights in Europe but not the U.S. Completely different categories. In the U.S. these also don't fall under "light sport" category. They are much too fast and have retractable gear. You have to have a regular pilot's license to fly one.

Ultralights can not do aerobatics because it is forbidden by law. The reason for this is that Ultralights are very light planes and they are simply not build for that amount of stress, so some planes that are in your list are not (by your own logic) military style airplanes because they can not do simmilar aerobatics as the military fighters.

Yes very nice indeed! But I think the most difficult desire, for a private pilot nowadays, is to have a four places single engine aircraft with basic aerobatic capabilities so thus to enjoy some aerobatics in an weekend and to go in vacation with the family next weekend. Practically nobody, as far as know, is producing any, except the Zlin 143 that have some capabilities. Remain the old ones as Yak-18T; some versions of Beech 33; the 70's IAR 823 (probably the best with real military appearance, but few remains); also the old Fuji FA-200 Aero Subaru and that's all I know, pretty shame...I think the Van's RV-14 will come with that desire and looking forward for the first appraisals.

Not as big of an engine but slightly smaller and made of carbon fiber so it’s lighter and has similar performance. I think it’s like 3/4 scale, sw51 is the one I’m thinking of. Another company makes a full size carbon one with a 1400 hp engine or u can fit a RR Merlin in it if u could find/afford it…another company makes one that will run off a Honda Odyssey motor, I think it’s t51!! Nfs what it’s made out but believe it’s 3/4 scale too. Some are 70% scale, some are 3/4 and some are full size so they make about anything u want

Considered 'military' because of their 'aerobatic characteristics'.... seriously? This would classify it as sport / aerobatic.. not military. Also, a lot of planes are used to train pilots. A Cessna isn't considered a military aircraft because pilots who end up in the military may have started out on them, or because the military may end up having one laying around they use, or used to use. It is a trainer. Military use would be something like the A-10, etc..

yes and if you see the fuel burn on those aircraft that are jets you may re-think your position .. They are a $5000.00 a weekend Friday to late Sunday oil burner.. I used to fly a Pilatus PC 12 years ago and 3 hours of flight time was $360.00 in Fuel back in 2003 when Jet A was cheap and that was at 30,000 feet. The fuel burn doubled below 17,000 feet and got progressively more expensive lower you go. Jets don't get good till their at Altitude and the other thing is that in terms of efficiency the propeller is still "King" up to about 450 knots. And that's why flights haul ass to their cruising altitude as fast quickly as the ATC will let them.
@Nghilifa
6 жыл бұрын
If you can afford one of those jets (not just the price, but maintenance etc) then the cost of Jet A is probably not your biggest concern though. But it is a valid point that you bring up though, they're not exactly "conservative" as far as fuel usage is concerned.

I love your videos, but you have one habit that unfortunately sets off my OCD. You keep saying "knots per hour". Knots are nautical miles per hour. It's already 'per hour'. So in my head you keep saying "nautical miles per hour per hour". Just say knots, that's how the word is used.
@PaulAnthonyDuttonUk
6 жыл бұрын
Chatsu8o So can't be knots per year then? A knot is a measure of distance only. You can record the knot against what ever time scale you choose. Time scales are not implied just commonly inferred.
@Chatsu8o
6 жыл бұрын
Not to be blut but... No. Knots are specifically defined to be 1 nautical mile PER HOUR. See here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knot_(unit) If you change that, you're changing the very definition of what a knot is. Edit: and it most definitely IS NOT a measure of distance. The "nautical mile" is the measure of distance within a knot. But the knot ties the distance and the time together to form a unit of speed.
@PaulAnthonyDuttonUk

Other than that, I enjoy your videos. By the way, if you want to go over 200 knots in comfort get a pressurized Skymaster. $65,000 will get you one with 600ish hour engines and a 20,000 foot cruise altitude. The only plane I enjoyed fly more was a Lear 24.

I'm liking the shark aero more and more. Seems to be the fastest with a 912 and most efficient. Just found out there is one at a nearby airfield. If it's a fractional ownership one, I'm buying in at next opening. It will be mine :)

The Shorts Tucano MK1 (~1 mil) seems a much better deal than the Diamond Dart, if you want to go true military turbo prop trainer

only the rv-8 is actually rated for aerobatics... the others are cross country aircraft with lipstick... shame... what's the point of all the fighter styling when you can't actually fly em like a fighter 🙁
