Looking forward to seeing all of this in our Ackie. We've only had him for a week. He's just a baby but still cool to watch!

I'm having trouble finding out if I should get a tegu or ackie. But this is what I would like from a pet. -A curious lizard that always interacts and loves hanging out with their owner -Something I can take outside and "walk" -An opportunistic eater -Into humans at times so interacting is fun Tbh, interaction is the favourite category into owning a tegu or ackie
@ProfessorHerp

Ackies would probably be difficult to walk and can be super fast. Tegus definitely can do all that though!

IMO videos like this are important. Care guides frequently don't really take into consideration how much joy you will get out of the reptile in relation to the care you put in. Adam frequently critiques the notion of beardies not being beginner reptiles (correctly, IMO) but even he realizes that the enjoyment received out of them FAR outweighs the care put in...and corrected this on his channel. Ackies seems to be off the charts in terms of being fun to watch and fun to interact with, in relation to the set up and care. They are not like keeping something like an Emerald Boa or a Tokay Gecko, which are not particularly interactive

It all comes down to what you want out of a pet reptile and what excites you. Some love colors, some love intelligence, some love their handability. I like what you said about these videos being important! We all get into the hobby because of the fun working with these guys!

I want at least one, hopefully in the next 5 years. Shooting for that because I have a son that will turn 4 in november and I know he will want to get in on play time but he can get really excited and forget to move slow and stay calm(while socializing this would be soooo important) also I want to build the cage they way I want and take real time into making it the way I want and the way future family member needs. In conclusion....I can not freakin wait to get one but I have to and I'm super jealous of you. 🤔🤓🤩

I just have a few questions. We have 2 sets of ackies and we have separated them, but now 2 of them are acting funny. They are constantly hiding now and when they do come out to eat they are sneezing and its like they are gasping for air? Any idea what is going on. We raised the humanity in there cages.

not sure could be many things. Specifically, when you move an Ackie to an unfamiliar environment they will probably hide more for the first week or so.
