I started taking taurine 2g in the morning (no food), 2g right before gym (7PM) ... it simply made my body less stressed during the gym session, more relaxed after, better sleep ... it is just crazy. My pre-workout routine for almost a year has been beta alanine only (creatine during the day) ... this made a huge difference for me. I wasn't expecting. My perspective is that my body can simply release the signals correctly now. I never had those good hormone releases after a session in a long time ... now, it feels great.

I heard taurine is mostly found in smaller muscles, like face, tongue, heart muscle, tail, and also in smaller animals and fish. Today we eat larger muscles of a few larger animals so don’t get what we used to get. Similar to how we used to eat bone and skin way more which gave us lots of glycine but today, not so much.

It's good stuff! I've been taking 1000mg taurine twice daily for about 6 months and I noticed a boost in workout performance almost immediately. It's the real deal. I take quite a few supplements, including several other important amino acids (r-ala, alcar, nac, glycine) as well as some of the usual suspects (vit D/K, vit C, ubiquinol/pqq, omega3, magnesium, vit B3, berberine, B heavy multi). I like to keep dosages toward the lower end of the range because the synergistic impact of many of these supplements is compounded when taken together. It's really easy to over do it with supplements with so many recommendations coming at you constantly and I definitely don't want to overburden my liver with too much intake. I also fast 16-18 hrs per day to give my gut a reset.

By 20 I was "diagnosed "with thyroid cancer, and was convinced to have surgery to remove it. Since then, my energy has only gotten worse. I started taking Amino acids to try to regain both mental clarity, and physical energy. I've been looking at Taurine as a miner player, thinking it can be supplied by getting protein and taking its precursors, with intermittent doses of Taurine itself. But with what I'm hearing about all its influences, I'm giving it more importance, and it's showing some promise.⚡😆👍🏻😌👍🏻⚡🥩💪🏻🧬

I am an avid watcher of your channel, although a bit of an oddball as I have been a vegan or vegetarian for much of my life since my teen years. However after much research, both reading and viewing research videos, I did try the taurine at a very low dose. Only 500 mg. One time. However the next morning I really needed an orderly to help me cope with the bodily expulsions. I did not take a large dose, and it was taken prior to eating, but the next morning I felt as though I had taken the queen of all purgatives. Could you suggest any helpful tips that might enable me to try again without undergoing such difficulties? I do appreciate your help with this. I have tried to find suggestions for this issue as I do know that there are some persons who also have this type of response from the Taurine. Can you offer some help please? Thank you so much. 🙏

Small nit to pick... there is not a specific cardiac CRP marker, as CRP is a general indication of inflammation produced by the liver. There is HS-CRP which is high sensitivity CRP, which simply means it is measuring the marker at lower concentrations (0.5-10 mg/dL) for earlier detection and that is used cardiac risk assessment. Then there is CRP, which measures at higher concentrations (10-1000 mg/dL) for general inflammation.

You should definitely up your dosage, given your age. As we get older we become less efficient at extracting and assimilating nutrients from our food. So if you figure you're getting the same amount of taurine from a steak that you got when you were 25, you're mistaken. But the good news is 2-fold. Not only will supplementing with taurine give you the amount you need, but also, one of taurine's benefits is *restoring the body's ability to extract and assimilate nutrients from our food.* Pretty amazing, huh?

Taurine is GREAT for subtle energy and to avoid sore muscles after exercise (along with B6 in P5P form and magnesium). It is great for eyesight, bile flow and to protect against too much glutamate in the brain. I switch between taurine and DMG. I take maximum 1 gram a day in the morning with my coffee. One day I took 2 grams in one sitting, and I will NEVER do that again. Made me so hyper and felt like I was about to have a heart attack so be wary too. Too much of a good thing. I did notice that particular day, my eyesight was much better in the evening. I might try one day to spread it out and take 2 times 1 gram but I am afraid, it would affect my sleep. I shall see. Women have much more risk of having that heart reaction than men by the way. I need to mention that for me taurine is especially good because I have a very rare LDH deficiency, which causes my muscles to ache VERY badly with too much exercise.

Taurine is nice and is very important. However you can’t increase your taurine levels unless you have a taurine deficient diet/unable to utilise, so you have to supplement or have a higher total amino acid count. Otherwise, it’s pretty much a placebo and is a waste of money. It’s much better to supplement with a high quality protein powder and add that to your diet. Protein powder has all the essential amino acids your body needs, not just taurine. More or less you’ll feel more of the effect, and it’s much more cost effective.

Thanks for an update an Taurine Thomas! I've been taking 200 mg of Taurine at night for a year, and yes, it has definitely given me the Benjamin Button disease 😂 If you didn't get that joke, look up the movie. I take it at night because it does drop blood pressure, and when I took it before the gym, it did not help, it made me feel lazy. So, at night, it can do its work on my muscles, and it helps calm me down for sleep. I have always looked much younger than I am. But since Taurine, it really is like I am looking and feeling younger. Recovery from the gym is like no more DOMS unless I absolutely go to failure. And being 42 and many people mistake me for being in my late 20s? I'll take that! Taurine is not magic, though. My tinnitus was unrelated to hearing loss (I got tested) and was stress based and had a somatic component (clenching my jaw would increase it). Wishing you all the best, it takes patience and for the first month I was in a really bad state and had trouble sleeping. I also had hyperacousis at the start but that resolved very quickly thankful.

Unfortunately, some suppliers add other ingredients such as Silicone Dioxide which is what MIGHT have made you sick! I saw on other videos recommending ox-bile or Tudja (might be mispelled) which can be taken instead of supplements (Please come back in the comments if you try this and let's us know if it was better) On Another video under the comments, Taurine must be given to cats in their food. He notice his cat was getting sick from the Taurine... then he looked at the extra ingredient was Silicone Dioxide

Great video! Thanks Thomas. I believe the main reason / underlying mechanism by which Taurine may have so many benefits is the smybiotic relationship it promotes with gut microbial flora. There is some reasearch based evidence that strongly supports that.

Be careful with all those studies because the big pharma doesn’t want us to be too healthy but sick or dead. Also don’t buy any of these supplements with all these fillers and flow agents. These additives are the ones causing the problems like Magnesium Stearate, Silicon Dioxide etc. i just ordered one and will not take it because it does have the Silicon Dioxide in it. That stuff can cause cancer if one takes it often enough. Read the contents carefully and the less additives, fillers the better.

Hey there - I have ZERO vested interest in any taurine products. This wasn’t a sponsored video for taurine. If you’re going to accuse me of that, at least be accurate. This is one of the more comprehensive and honest videos on taurine on the internet. Taurine is an amino acid found in meat. I have not seen any literature saying taurine is dangerous. To make an accusation that I’m peddling a taurine product in a video that has no mention of taurine brands at all, is uncalled for and honestly borderline libel.

Nutricost is SUPER SUS. I bought their saffron extract & also have actual saffron & they do not taste the same at all, not even close. One would think an extract would taste super strong but instead it has very little taste. Tastes more like sawdust. I opened the capsules & tasted the rest of my Nutricost products & realized they all have that same bland, sawdust like flavor. BOYCOTT NUTRICOST. 👀

Taking 1000mg a day after a few weeks I started noticing during weight training, my ability to lift weights previously comfortable with was DECREASING! This was opposite from what this guy and other you tubers have to say about this supplement. Also my muscles lacked tension and I felt weak. WTF? I Google searched this phenomenon and found SCIENTIFIC STUDIES showing supplementing with taurine puts the human body in the AMPK metabolic pathway. This makes the body think it is in caloric restriction and it starts to catabolize muscle! The most cited study for this supplement which was (DONE ON MICE), showed the mice lived longer which would be consistent with AMPK metabolic pathway verses MTOR pathway. However, no data on muscle strength. I stopped taking it and slowly worked my way up to the weights I was previously lifting.

Taurine is good however it confuses us as thinking it's another caffeine and we get our options for that in the morning. I remember being 20 year old drinking caffeine and taurine energy drink and running on a treadmill 15 kph between 30-45 minutes a good few times thanks to it.
