Loved this video!!!! All of these 5 points are reasons why I'm applying to CLS school after I finish my BS Biochemistry degree. Thank you for sharing!

Hi, I'm in the same boat as you. Though, some companies train you to get temporary certification so you can still work as a CLS without a BCH degree!

@@jigglypuff6297 Very true! I was gonna waste 30k to attend GWU & found a hospital that hired me as a generalist to train in all areas. I will be able to challenge the AMT test in 1 year & in 5 yrs the test for ASCO cert without paying for a post-back program.

I have been: a photographer at a zoo (my first job), teacher aide, mortgage broker assistant, registered dental assistant (8yrs), and finally became a CLS. I have lived many lives, according to my coworkers. I had to do what i had to do to pay the bills. 😆

How would you say about the pay in the field and chances to extend your career path ( except from going to management? :( )
@ReaNav
3 жыл бұрын
It’s been quite a demand especially because of Covid my coworkers even got an email to get a job in a hollywood set to do covid testing. There are diverse paths you can take such as QA, or LIS (this is more like IT), you can also go into sales or research such as getting hired into companies like Abbott. As for pay, you have to search that on your own depending on the State you are in since it varies so much. But in States like California, the starting pay is at 45-50$ an hour. In Arizona it pays around 30$ an hour on average depending on experience, but the cost of living there is so much cheaper too. So those are things you look into on your own depending on where you are. There are also travelling CLS’s, and there are also companies that aggressively hire with sign on bonuses due to severe shortage.

im doing nursing rn, i feel bad that im disinterested in the classes I wanted to become a nurse becasue of my olders sister and my mum. But i just don't engage in the courses involving theory or even in labs where we perform observations. I just feel like a fish out of water, while everyone else was ontop of their game. (im having a crisis 4 hours before i have a OSCE). BUT for the first time even in highschool i got a high mark for a biology unit, i was just interested and i was up my game. I didnt expect i could get a high distinction for one of my assignments, I just surprised myself. So now im just questioning if i continue nursing or do something that im actually good at.

do you have any tips on how to write the personal statement for cls programs? what state do you live in?
@ReaNav
3 жыл бұрын
Just be as honest and sincere as you can be as to why you want to work in this field. The personal statement, should be as heartfelt as it is technical covering the personal reasons why you applied and backed up by work experience/lab experience that answers why they should accept you in the program. Good luck! ❤️

I'm taking my ASCP exam very soon, I feel confident in everything except micro. Would you be able to make some videos to help me? I can tell from your other videos that you're very good at explaining. I'm already working as an mlt so I don't have as much time as I'd like to study. If you're willing, is there anyway I could contact and communicate with you? Thanks :)

I am currently working on a lot of Hematology material as of the moment, so I don't see myself jumping into micro anytime soon. But if you have topics that you are truly struggling with feel free to drop your suggestions here, and I'll see if I can do something for you. Thanks!

Hi ate! I think I am going to go into CLS. I have been considering pharmacy school for about year but the job outlook scares me and the high debt. Poor students who don't know what the reality is... I want to go to school and know that I will have a job.

Yeah phrmacy is expensive, takes longer (4 years) and does not have as many openings as CLS jobs. Especially with covid, all the hospital labs are even busier and short staffed than ever. But then again it is ultimately up to you, goodluck! 💕

I don’t know whether or not to choose CLS or a STEM degree :( would it be hard to go back to a science path (like a masters) if I did CLS for my BS??
@ReaNav
3 жыл бұрын
I have a couple of coworkers that did their masters degree while being a CLS at the same time. If your ultimate goal is getting a Masters Degree then put your heart into it. CLS school is for people to get licensed to work in the lab and are happy to be there. If your end goal is not that, then focus on that and only take CLS school if it supports the Masters Degree you want to take.
