It is also important to pay attention to the everyday work gadgets. Everyone can get a cheap plastic smartphone case or smartphone bag. Instead one can make a statement by having a case made from wood or a bag made from fine leather. Thereby value is added to the gadget and one demonstrates that the gadgets are of value to him. Also taking notes in a high quality note book with an ink pen makes a completely different impression than simply typing into a computer using OneNote. This changes the entire meeting atmosphere and the way information is gathered. Even the simple fact that an ink pen is being used by a man provides the impression of someone valuing tradition. A contract signed with an ink pen shows that it is of a certain meaning to both parties signing it.
@maestroadam

+Alexander Hanatschek I couldn't agree more. Especially if you are in a client facing or deal closing role, there's nothing that quite adds to the confidence of the deal of having a beautiful pen at the ready for your client to sign on the line that is dotted with. Better than having them sign or write down specifics with a plastic Bic pen, that's for sure!

You mentioned wholecuts in the video... I don't know if you have already done a video on this, but can you do a video on exotic leather dress shoes? I've been curious if your belt should be of the same exotic leather, how formal they are compared to cow, etc.

Rusty if it were me wearing crocodile, ostrich, alligator, manta ray, or lizard shoes I would wear a belt in the matching leather but that's just my thought on it I'm not aware of their is a rule dictating someone has to wear the same animal leather type or not. @banjocordian

This would be a good addition to the video. [a] Personal body chemistry varies, so the total aroma might be different for two people wearing the same fragrance. [b] What kind of aromas tend to signify what kind of personality, or environment, or success? (I'm not around the right kind of people or aromas enough, to know "Wow. That fragrance is _________ and I know it's expensive", unlike a fine watch or pair of shoes. How do we identify "the right smell"?) [c] Some workplaces and close interpersonal environments (e.g., airline travel) will have issues with fragrances -- i.e., some people really don't like them, and are even ~ 'allergic' to them. How should we approach those situations? I think aromas can trigger associations and pleasure when encountered, having nothing to do with personal fragrance. For example, I enjoy the smell of leather, and some people like a whiff of diesel / jet fuel, or even a cigar smoked by a passer-by.

Not just the right smell but the right strength and amount. Waaaaay too many people that'll wear cheap cologne and douse themselves with it (gives the impression I'm dealing with some cheap knucklehead/neanderthal). when it comes to a fragrance a little goes a long way, I've even had good results and complements just based on the scent of my shave soap/aftershave. Cologne is like cufflinks, it's a really nice touch but you're not gonna wear 2.5lb in your face cufflinks, you're gonna wear cufflinks that have to be casually noticed yet once noticed are in a way memorable. Make someone work just a little to find a scent and theyll admire/respect it just that much more.

For me, not wearing a watch is a proactive power move. I am broadcasting to the world that I am a Time Master; not a slave to the clock. When they ask, "But how do you get to appointments on time?" I simply let them know that, when I am somewhere doing something with someone, or with a group of someone's, I do not have anything scheduled afterward. When you get any time with me, it is always premium time. You literally become the totality of my entire world when I am with you.

Would be interesting to see a video on quality clip-on ties. I used to work in security and we were only allowed to wear clip-on ties due to the fact that if you get into a confrontation a full tie can be used against you. The attacker can grab your tie an use it to throw you to the ground. But a clip-on tie will simply pop off. However, it seems like all the clip-on ties I've seen are low quality. Also, there seems to be some debate over whether to clip the clip over the top of your collar or to insert the clip into the top button hole of your shirt.

They are low end because they are considered extremely slobby, as security and police men are the only one with a reasonable explanation to wear them. I think you won't find a video about it, as Antonio would certainly say to wear a real tie when you're not obliged to wear a clip-on.

I was at a wedding last month, and I wore a black suit but I wore it with brown Oxfords instead of black. I love brown shoes with black pants, (it has to be the proper shade of brown though.) And I had these two 15yr old kids looking at me and eventually comment on how they liked the brown and black together and didn't know it could be done. That was awesome for me because I'm only 26, and have only been truly working on my style for about a year now. But it helped reassure me that I'm doing well when it comes to my style,

I think subtle changes to traditional formality will really advance your message of power. For instance, I often opt for a three piece suit in order to convey a sense of maturity. I realize that a two piece grey suit would look just fine on me, but I have a three piece navy blue suit that just looks perfect on me. I'm about 5 9 and 135 lbs, so I think the waistcoat makes me feel less like a human coat hanger and more like a full well fitted well established guy. People notice the waistcoat, but it's just subtle enough to not become a conversation. And I like it that way. --- That's my personal power suit.

last year i bought my first suit (first payout, why not buy something that lasts), standard navy blue with cognac shoes and a cognac/brown belt. I chose cognac because I wanted to stand out, make the shoes pop, make people notice me. Every wedding i've been to I've gotten compliments, or my parents have gotten compliments about me. I only had a cheap bow tie,, but it looked exactly as I wanted. By now I've gotten a hand made, red, silk tie from korea (a present) to go with it, and it just does exactly the same thing. I love how clothing can get you noticed in a positive way so fast :) Only a great watch to go for (personal) perfection.

I believe, your choice in scent plays a huge role as well. Not just your choice in cologne but your soap, lotions, deodorant, powders etc. Do they all match a "scent tone"? You can send a very confusing signal if your scent doesn't match as well as could send a stronger, more pungent smell that could be very displeasing to those around you. And does your choice in scents match your natural body scent?

As for the video, I'd just add that whatever you're comfortable with wearing, whatever you wear that sets you apart is likely what you should focus on. You can in China. Get your measurements done and contact a Chinese tailor. Check out SerpentZA´s channel. Maybe he has some tips. You get completely custom suits made for the almost the amount as a pair of Gap shorts and shirt cost. A decent pair of Shorts/pants costs about 35-40 and another 25-30 for a shirt you are already at 60 add a sweatshirt for another 30-40 and you are at 100. and for about 100 you get a full custom suit. So trade 2 outfits for 1 good suit. Do that X2 and you are all set. Keep in mind 1. build up over time. 2. Mix and match. 2-3 jackets and 5-6 pants and 10 shirts can be mixed to make many outfits. Would cost about 400-600 to get an entire wardrobe if you order it in China.

Speaking of suits, I see skinny piped trousers and jackets that curve outwards too much from the 2nd button downward exposing the belt buckle or tie. That is just bad design. And if I see a guy wear that and include a skinny black tie, the word jackass comes to mind. That's not elegant and the wearer commands no gravitas whatsoever. I like what you said about wearing your clothes with confidence. More specifically, wearing a suit with confidence - because you like it, because it's comfortable, because its well tailored, because it makes you feel great..

Good morning Antonio, What clothing would not just convey Power but would Intimidate? To explain: I am a, (not yet professional), Cityscape Photographer and Street Photographer. Occasionally people will get bent out of shape because I have taken a photograph of a Street Scene and they were in it. Generally I can talk my way out of such situations but prevention is better than cure. I have been thinking of purchasing a (faux) leather jacket and perhaps something better than Nike/New Balance sneakers. I also need to keep the costs down, and, since I service computers and need to dive under a desk at least once a day, something snazzy is not going to be appropriate. What are your thoughts? Best regards, Brentfilmmaker

The value of this channel and topic is about maintaining certain standards in deportment and clothing for the right occasion - everything in its place, in its time. However, the "example" set by Zuckerberg and 50 cents do not fit with this vision. First of all, Zuckerberg dresses this way because he is all logic and no imagination. This is a conscious decision on his part to minimize the time he spends in the morning picking out what he's going to wear - I have a cousin who does exactly that. In other words, he doesn't have time for himself to look his best. So the signal he sends is that he would have even less time for you. Zuckerberg doesn't dress the way he does because he can do whatever he can (Congress reminded him that he can't do that, in fact and in law). He dresses the way he does because he is unaware of his surroundings. Also remember that, if it hadn't been for Peter Thiele, this guy would be an anonymous (or Anonymous) coder somewhere in his mom's basement. Talented? Yes. But lucky also. About 50 cents; clearly this is another industry, but I would take his (important) message much more seriously if he didn't dress as an inner city bum. His manner of dress suggests aggression more than power, and these are two different concepts. Someone who is aggressive demonstrates he doesn't have power. Someone who has power or displays power can speak softly, and all that is needed after that is the impression left by the habit that you might be carrying a big stick, that you wield sparingly, but mercilessly if needed. It's not because one is successful in one's own industry that you should trash standards and manners. Both of which Zuckerberg and 50 cents do. One by nerdy awkwardness, the other by intimidation.

If you are job hunting and have the extra cash, spend it on a custom tailored suit. It might cost 500-700 dollars but it will fit like a glove. You will look much better than if you buy one off the rack from Men's Wearhouse. It's not too much to spend. Consider it an investment. That custom suit will make you look more professional and it will potentially get you the 80K job you want. You are not saving money on a cheaper suit if you don't get the job.

Question for viewers that do not live in the U.S. Have you ever bought something what Antonio has advertised? Have you ever bought a watch, clothes, glasses etc? Why i ask that: I like, for example, these watches. I see that they are cheap, i can give them 150 dollars for that but what else would i need to pay, because i live in Europe?

Hi Antonio, I know this is an old video so these comments are probably in the past, but I could use your advice. I have a suit in a similar color to the one you are wearing here, but I'm struggling to put together decent outfits with it. This brownish grey for whatever reason is tripping me up. I really like the navy shirt you've got going on, and I find black works with it too. Any other ideas?

When he was talking about the J-Walking (man in suit vs shirt and t shirt) it made me think of Mad Men when Don Draper walks out past the cops high as a kite and they say NOTHING.

use a good dry cleaner. So many guys don't get their suits and jacket dry cleaned. It makes a huge difference in the look when dry cleaned and pressed periodically.

am subscribed and liked this video. checked out sponsor, kudos to them for making an easy to use site! honestly, a lot of watch retailers both mfg and resellers ie carry multiple brands, have rubbish customer interfaces ie the sites are terrible, honestly feel like i could get a better and more informative customer experience by flashing a little green to a guy named "Vinny" on a street corner and perusing the wares he flashes hanging from the inside flap of his 70's burgundy pleather double breasted overcoat. it is refreshing to see a design philosophy carry over from product to their sales process, i hope they keep that as they grow. lovely watches overall. o liked the chronos, all the gold tone ones have a vintagey feel to them. too bad about that LI Jim Bean one with the myota movement being sold out, that thing is cool. if you want to pass some feedback to them from your follower base, do give them props on their site and that hopefully sales justify having more automatics and more limited edition pieces in the future. would love to see something/more with ebony wood, it black wood clarinets are made from but it's a norotriously difficult medium to work with, an ebony wood automatic would be so rad! power signals, spot on w the video, id say peak lapels and uber power, peak lapels and double breast or peak lapels w collared waistcoat/vest if using single breast, ie ala Harvey Specter from suits. also on the right guy, slicked back hair or Shiney bald fresh shaved "chrome dome" , can accent a definite "driver" type if intensity. :)//ddp

I'm a real watch fan. I was looking for the Original Grain link and cant see it - It may be to do with this video being 6 years old. If you could include it in your response that would be much appreciated.

Just be yourself. Keep the overall look and feel neat and hygienic. Period. If you keep running after buying all the expensive things in the world, you will only attract the wrong kind of women.

I'd personally recommend wearing a nice fitted t-shirt with a nice pair of jeans and dress sneakers or dress shoes as opposed to a friggin bow tie! Unless your goal is to look like Tucker Carlson, PeeWee Herman or Waylon Smithers...

I promise I won't comment every video :). The Power suit subject is really worth a video on its own. If you go anywhere in a three piece suit, in my eyes you're taking the "power suit to a whole different level. No matter if its at the company or a fast food restaurant. Whenever I have the pleasure to get myself a new suit, three piece wins hands down. :)

What about ties and beards? I started rocking Bowties, because I can (is there a better reason?) a few years back. Now, I have a long beard. If I leave my beard out, it covers my bowtie just enough that everyone still know it's there, but don't get a good look at it. I think a manbun on my chin works the best when I have a bowtie to let it be seen. I can't stand a tail on my chin wearing any tie. So, yeah, beards and ties. What's the word?

Posture. Seriously, posture. I can wear a t shirt in a room full of power suits and look like I'm in charge if I hold myself properly, and they don't.

I think men can make a powerful statement by wearing bright colors. Things like a bold color pocket square or a tie that's a bright color makes a powerful statement. And most women I've talked to say that men stand out more when they wear brighter colors.

If you can make videos, each one focuses on one advice that would be better cuz i'm watching every video but at the end i'm confused with many things and many advices...focusing on one advice per video in my opinion is better than craming 5 or 10 things in 1 video. sorry my english is not that good
