Changes in routine Fel: 1. Stopped using Sulfur drying lotions. She now prefers exfoliating toners but the toner she uses still depends on what she thinks she needs that morning/night (whether hydrating/exfoliating etc). Spot treats w paulas choice bha 9. 2. Instead of having salicylic acid in almost all steps of her routine ( SA cleansers), she now just uses it on treatments along w a gentle cleanser and gentle moisturizer. 3. Peel-off masks or nose pore strips are not the best way to get rid of blackheads/ whiteheads. It’s fun but it doesn’t give much. Gentle chemical exfoliants are better. Rowena: 1. Realized she was over exfoliating with chemicals (triple sheet mask). Now only use hydrating mask then moisturizer. 2. 10 step skin care routine is too many steps in a routine. More is not better (esp serums). Streamline the skincare routine. Calm cleanser. Great toner. Hydrating serum. Hydrating Moisturiser. That’s all she really needed. 3. Stopped using exfoliating ingredients daily (glycolic acid, lactic acid, ahas and bhas in general). Now only applies them once or twice a week. Special note: Their routine now is 80% HYDRATING, 20% all else. 😂

Please add in that the reason why they have mostly hydrating is because they had to pay the price of overusing chemical exfoliates, since their old routine didn’t combat the drying effect with hydration

I recently finally pulled the trigger and bought a couple skin care products you two recommended. This may sound a little dramatic but I always kinda really felt terrible about buying myself stuff like this or that I even cared about stuff like this. At first I would watch your guys videos here and there, eventually I subscribed and started to watch your videos more often till I was watching you guys on the daily, rewatching many videos with a notebook and pen for months learning. I still felt bad to actually buy and try out anything. I don't know if it was low self esteem or not wanting to come off as shallow , self centered, or selfish I just couldn't do it. I kinda always had a personal issue with self care. Anyway I finally found a moment of courage and clicked on the links before I lost it. I felt so happy, excited, and relief afterwards and I truly think I wouldn't have if it wasn't for you Ro, Fel and the rest of the Bueaty Within team, THANKYOU! I dont know you'll get a chance to see this but I still wanted to express my gratitude.🖤🖤🖤 My products arrived and can't wait to try them out!

I understand you completely. I used to be this way from the ages of 20-28 years old. Went through horrible relationships, tried everything to come across as "nice" to everyone around me and cater to whoever asked of anything from me, & completely lacked in the self-care department in a subconscious effort to prove my humility. Really, it was just a lack of self-love and confidence. I am 31 years old now, and if I could go back in time I'd slap my younger self out of it and demand that she put herself first. Life is so short, and no one will take care of us the way that we can take care of ourselves. It's a beautiful thing to invest in ourselves and see that we're worthy of the best things in life. I hope you continue on your journey of self-love and discovery. Don't be ashamed of any of it. ❤

Helin Güneş i agree, and through skincare your skin looks and feels better. I used to always get out of the shower with dry skin which took a day to go away because I have oily skin. @@isame0085 exactly... i also had flaky skin on my oily parts in winter and i was confused af. Then i used a water based moisturizer and it transformed my skin. Cleanser is a must to cleanse the skin and sunscreen helped so much with my hiper pigmentation. I use pimple patches and bha/aha for my pores and pimples. I think my skin would be wprse if i never started skincare in the first place. I dont like to splurge on skincare, i look for effective products with good ingridients.

Oh my gosh, I’m a dehydrated skin girl and for me it happened after I turned 30. I remember when it started and as I tried to find a solution everyone always told me to exfoliate so I did it a lot, with masks for longer and longer yet it didn’t help! It wasn’t until I started with an organic nourishing face oil and toner that my skin felt good. I mean if your skin is dry and you keep exfoliating without finding the right nourishment it needs you’re stuck in limbo. Thank you for sharing! 💛

For me it's also Mario Badescu drying lotion, any rose water fragranced toning "mist" that has no actual skincare benefits, using physical exfoliating scrubs, cleansing too much/layering too many products, biore blackhead pore strips over the nose, and using vitamin c eye creams while applying them too close to the eye. For my skin I have learned that it is sensitive and prone to dehydration: I can't handle irritants, less is MORE, gentle is best and hydration is KEY!!

In the same boat! In fact i got so frustrated with all the products i bought that didn't do anything for my dehydrated and dry skin (that was constantly greasy) that i just stopped washing my face entirely lol aka: the caveman regimen. and dear god....my face is clearing up 🥺 10 years of acne!!! and not touching it is what's clearing it. the irony oh my god. the way i wish i had a time machine to prevent all the scars :'( but now i know, less truly is more.

@@melancholy_joy I hear ya! Totally relate. Everyone's face is different. Some thrive with the 7 skins 10 step K beauty regimen with serums, toners, oils, masks etc. while others do best with the simple 3 step (if that) products from the local drugstore routine lmao. I give my face a rinse everyday but I only cleanse every 2 days and idc what anyone says, my skin has never felt or looked better and it's consistently been clear, smooth and bright for months now. Rather than purchase acid peels and chemical exfoliants I just plan to eventually introduce prescription tretinoin as my active, but for the moment I'm just enjoying not having sensitised skin lol!

@@jl4260 Yes!! Completely! And ahh you too?! I've been washing my face with water only every night now, and BOY has it cleared up like magic. So I totally feel you! Do what works for you! If anyone ever compliments my skin now, i'll say "I just wash it with water" and watch their reaction lool. And yoo same! Planning to introduce a retinoid/tretinoin later in my 20's for preventative measures. But hell yeah it's so nice no longer dealing with overly oily, dehydrated or inflamed acne skin. My skin hasn't been this subdued in like half a decade. It's also nice not to spend over $100/month just on face products. It's saved sooo much money (and energy!)

And besides there so many different toners that serves different functions🙂

I totally agree! Some of my favorite skincare KZitemrs are Liah Yoo, Dr. Dray, and Dr. Sam Bunting for this reason-they all preach minimalism in their skincare practice and emphasize that your skin is smart and knows how to take care of itself as long as you do the basics. My skin has always been acne-prone and reactive, and I’ve found that when I use too many products/layers, I break out or get red and irritated. The way I see it, I ain’t a cosmetic formulator and am not going to try to pretend to be one in my routine 😅

And even then do you get products that work well for some parts of your face and not so well for other parts (like a serum that does wonders for your cheeks and then somehow breaks you out on your forehead)? I tend to find chemical exfoliants hard to use. I watched many vid's of how to use them, but when I use the Paula's Choice BHA 2% salicylic acid it looks like my pores get filled more easily on my forehead and most of the time my skin feels really tight in the morning. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. For cleanser I used to use the Cerave Hydrating cleanser but that broke me out with cystic acne. Now i'm using the Cerave Foaming cleanser and that works really well on my. In the morning I wash my face with the Cerave cleanser and as a toner I use pure Rose Water. As a serum I use the It's skin PO Formula serum, than as a spot treatment I use the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+, as a daycream I use the Purito Centella Cream and finish with the La Roche Posay Anthelios Mineral Sunscreen. At night I wash my face again with the Cerave cleanser or double cleanse when I am wearing make up with the Ordinary Squalane cleanser after that I tone with the Paula's Choice BHA 2% Gel Exfoliant (I use this when my skin looks really filled and use it for like three days in a row), every other day I swap this step for the pure Rose Water as a toner and then the Vita C serum from Neogen and finish with the COSRX Snail Cream. Especially during my period my face tends to get really angry and dry. Do you guys have any tips on what to do?

Yesss love using retinols and retinoids for acne prone skin, it also really helps to control my pores and breakouts so much! I totally agree with slowing down the use of glycolic acid if you're already using retinoid since that can definitely be drying if you're using them both at the same time since they're both speeding up the cell renewal process. But as you said, if you want to take a couple days to use a mild/gentle glycolic acid toner instead of the retinoid product that also works, and you can use them on separate days depending on which one you feel your skin needs more each night 😊there's no right or wrong, and seems like you're doing really well girl! Fel, that 9% Paula's choice sounds like it packs a punch ⚡⚡⚡ Row, I think I still love the 10 step routine for days when I give myself a full facial treatment with a steam love it for that reset🎯🎯 Row, the struggle of peeling off those peel off masks is why I stopped using them 😩😩😩 😂 lol🙌😍

eye cream/eye treatments are not necessary. just put your moisturizer and spf under the eye that is already good enough

Tell me how I have dry skin, but suffer from getting bumps on my cheeks (not sure if its malassezia), but my esthetician but trying my face out with the liquid part of a drying lotion because she was trying to treat my "acne". My skin was shot the next day. I swear even these estheticians done know what they are doing.

Some serum is runny so I substituted it for essence stage that i dont use.. then i have like two other serum cocktail.. if one’s for brightening then the other is..soothing or hydrating.. ik im also shocked that i use 2-3 serum in a routine as well but im aware of what they do to my skin

I started to bring every step in my skin care down to my neck. Then I noticed breakouts and huge pimples there, mostly along my jaw line. How do you think should I handle this?
@BeautyWithin

Yesss always a good idea to spread our skincare down the neck since the skin on the neck ages and is quite thin as well! Make sure you're also spreading some of your cleanser down the neck as well so by the time you're applying your skincare it won't mix in oils, sweat and bacteria - which might the reason you're breaking out there? Hope this helps! 😊- fel

It could be skin purging. If you have a look at some websites/articles online, it can help you tell if it's a breakout or purging. If it is purging, then if you wait it out, you're going to get much better skin at the end of it. If you're using products like AHAs, BHAs and PHAs - they're most likely going to cause purging, and it should only appear in places you usually have breakouts. It's up to you really, if you're willing to wait it out (it could take up to six weeks to clear). Definitely Google it first tho - to check you're not having an adverse reaction to your products.
