So funny that I should come across this video - after having just returned from paying for my 4 speed T line! I said to the shop owner (a friend) that I would go with the 4 speed rather than 12 (with that heavy antique hub), as I could easily see the massive spacing between the gears would allow more to be fitted - my 11 and 12 speed bikes are a much closer fit! Really helps seeing what brand(s) fit direct too; especially as it means I already have tools. Thank fudge that Brompton did not use a bespoke design! And of course (and another reason why I didn't want the hub gears), as you have done, the selector can go on the correct side! 😅 I may at a later date (as a commenter has said) fit a twin chainring crank, but given the money I just paid for this beautiful bike, with parts like carbon cranks, I probably won't. 😉 Loving the vids and the out-takes at the ends. Keep up the good work. Regards, darth.

With 2023 P-Line 21T sprocket works. With 2024 Version the jockey wheel touches the 21T sprocket. But there is some play in the monuting of the derailleur. So we put some plastic approximately 1 mm thick under the back mount to bring the derailleur a little bit down. In case it doesn't help enough, there is an extension by H&H but I have no experience with this. My 13T sprocket startet jumping after 2700km (heavy driver, wax). For me Brommie+ conversion for the brompton shifter is working.
@darthonutube
4 ай бұрын
Have now done this conversion. I ended up (by mistake of not paying attention when ordering) with the SRAM SG 10 speed shifter! Same weight; same look; same 1:1 pull ratio, just cheaper to buy! 😅 I had some issues with cable length (the outer o.e.m. cable) that I have made a video of, and the rectification, that I may post if I thought there's any interest. Turning the steering to the right caused the gears to change!!!🙄 The change up and down is beautifully smooth but there is one downside... Coming from 5th to 1st it's very easy to forget what gear I am in and push the lever one more click. Because the derailleur is only plastic, regardless of the Stop screw, I have to be careful not to push the chain beyond 1st onto the hub! I might look into swapping the SRAM lever for the Brommieplus unit. Other than that, I might look online for an old 5 speed indexed lever, or open up the SRAM and put in a stop internally. 😆 Keep up the brilliant work (pun intended), darth.

@@brilliantbikes it's a bit annoying that by the time I could get my hands on the CHPT3 it had become a very closely geared 4 speed, from 6, so it's spins out on the slightest decline. Perhaps a 54 tooth front ring with your 5 gears on may work, I think the combination may be very slightly better for hills, I can't work the maths on that 😂😂 but it wouldn't spin out so easy. As the P line now has 12 speed for not much more weight or money, but more gears that's annoying. Although I didn't really want 12 gears, as I'd expect a few more issues with them and I'd have to see your review first. Any idea when you will get your hands on one? Hello, thank you for making this video. I need some advice. I followed your video today and upgraded my T line to 5 speed. However, I think I made a mistake during the process but this mistake didn't effect anything (at lease I didn't notice.) I used the first 5 sprockets of the Shimano Deore M5100 Cassette. However, Amazon sent me a 10 speed Sram GX10 trigger shifter instead of GX11 I ordered. I then ordered from another vendor the correct Gx11 shifter. However, during installation, I accidentally used the GX10 shifter instead of GX11 (they kinda look the same from the outside and box...) From what I read online, GX10 use Exact-Actuation and GX11 use X-Actuation. I kept the same chain and the original 50T chainring. After adjusting the limit screws, the shifting feels find and I don't see any issue with it. I rode 10 miles today and shifting was smooth. My question is that should I swap out the shifter to GX11 or just keep the GX10 since it's shifting fine? Thanks! Oh...I subscribed to your channel today!
