This was mega helpful. Making 808s in Serum is so much better - I’ve found that making them with samples is just not a reliable way of doing it at all

Having full control of attack, decay, sustain and release, as well as being able to manipulate the actual wavetables AND control pitchbend parameters makes me never want to use drag and drop 808s again.

I've got a question regarding mixing in general?... I bus my sounds, compress when needed, EQ, level, but can't achieve a "pro" level mix every time. I'm thinking perhaps its the sound selection, or clashing frequencies. I make rnb/hiphop and I'm trying to get emotional pro sounding tracks almost like zane98 (if you know his content many of the mixes have space for the artist, and sound fantastic).

This was still 11. I was beta testing 12 so I had to keep going back to 11 for videos before the launch 😂

This was so so so so useful! Thanks a lot. Just one question: Do you put all the velocity dots in the MIDI track the same? or do you leave the original velocity of the performance? Thank you!

I watched an interview of a producer who works for Drake and his label. He uses the very same preset from Razor on each track of his. It's something called Kick in the balls or Kick in the nuts, not sure which it is. just tweaking it with some distortion or saturation.

Correct me if i am wrong: rbass is shifting everything below the selected frequency to the upper region so the sub freq gets audible. must be some kind of octave shifting. but there are no added harmonics
@MakePopMusic

It's a psycho acoustic effect that shifts the audible focus of low end by creating and shifting harmonics of low end content. It definitely adds harmonics and sub harmonics :D

Wouldn't sidechaing 808 lose it's punch?
@Ash.Sean.Taylor

Not if you're replacing that with a separate kick!
@MakePopMusic
2 жыл бұрын
Yep! Which is why it may be useful if you're layering it under a punchy kick that it's clashing with.
