I gave up on commercial radio years ago and switched to community radio. Sometimes things go awry with them but I kinda like it. They are highly varied and diverse volunteer run stations. Another option is Radio Garden which uses a globe that shows digital radio stations available world wide just spin the globe and choose a pin.

The radio playlist thing irritates my soul. If a song I like starts getting played on radio, I get secretly mad because it's a matter of time before they play it to death! Everyone wearing the same designs in clothes and shoes...that's why I just make mine if I want something different. It's always a pleasure to watch you, Abi. Thanks for another great video❤️

Having been involved with the fashion industry here in Australia for over 55yrs I'm intrigued to know who are you comparing us to ,I can guarantee that we are just as fashion conscious as anywhere else in the world and actually way ahead of a lot of countries . We are serviced with high end merchandise from our more well known department stores and its a fact that companies such as Target have some of the most rigorous testing regime when it comes to clothing . As for variety there is nothing you could want that can't be bought on the internet . As to your other dislikes Africans as well as any other nationality have the same opportunities as any one else in the work force . The radio is a reflection of its audiences wants , they wouldn't be in business it they weren't . As far as the sun cancer rate , you said it yourself use sunscreen although I'll admit I hate the stuff , always makes me feel greasy . And I'm afraid no body can do anything to change the seasons , so just enjoy us for what we are , we might not be the best place in the world but we're way ahead of whoever is in second place .

I think you are right about quite a few things but it depends on in which state you live. Some states may as well be a different country. The time zones and reverse seasons can be a real issue. Christmas isn’t Christmas in 35c heat. No wants to eat in that weather and plastic snow and reindeer are off. Australia follows America in many ways and cheap clothing from KMart and other stores is just that influence. We could do with more open air markets in this country rather than these large shopping centres. More people space without the rude stinky car culture. We geographically isolate people with our urban planning and architecture. We need more community and less big business.

I was wondering since you mentioned the fast-fashion part. Culturally in Australia, is wearing vintage clothing looked down upon in Australia? Or are they not as common? In the states (especially where I live, in Portland, Oregon) they’re very conscious of consumption and vintage is very popular here. There are thrift shops all over.

Interesting content my sis am also african living in Australia for the past 12 years, I appreciate many things here and have also had to adapt to somethings and I can confidently say I feel settled in Australia now . My own experience with fast fashion has not been bad at all, none of those clothes really deteriorated after a few months or even years and I actually still have some,( from Kmart, big w etc), truth is I end up giving them to charity, I also enjoy high end clothes here and there so the fast fashion for me it’s still not a bad quality at all, As for Africans stepping up my sister, I tried it personally here and there at work and I realised maybe it’s not worth the resistance and racism/ignorance that comes with them adapting to an individual of African descent being their boss, I am happier just doing my job and going home, less stress that way.. just my personal experience, and I absolutely am not implying that this is everyone’s experience . I however do acknowledge that some Australians are kind and fair foreigners ..but the reality Is racism is alive and well in Australia especially on the ground so most Africans end up just trying to be out of the way and do what really matters to them and their families.

I definitely recommend shopping in Naija before arrival. It will be cheaper there and one less thing to worry about when you arrive. Inevitably, you would still need to buy a few things like sweaters and Jackets for the cold season but buy as much as you can in Naija. All the best 👍

While it's never too soon to see more representation, I think you'll see it rapidly increase once there are more second/third generations here. Particularly for federal Parliament, at least, you can't hold a second citizenship, which I imagine is something many won't want to give up. Back when I was growing up, in Perth, I don't think I can recall even *seeing* a non-Aboriginal black person until my teens. A customer at my Dad's camera repair shop, that was unusual enough for me to remember! (And my primary school class of ~30, only had three children who weren't bone white). Yeah, this was Perth, which along with Adelaide are probably the most "British" states, but you get the idea. Quite a large white South African expat community, but that's a different matter. Our time zone often does suck, but if you're in certain types of work it's actually a good place to be for follow the sun type support roles (the east coast fits very nicely in between East Coast USA and Western Europe). That's pretty niche though. For family, it sucks (I have family both in Hawaii and Scotland)

you buy cheap . you get cheap . all clothes stores here rotate stock by seasons because we have a huge difference between summer and winter , but it depends what brand of clothes you buy , for quality . you can go to kmart or big w and pay very little for clothing , and get cheap chinese made rubbish , or you can buy brand name clothes like addidas , nike , puma etc , that will cost a lot more , but better quality . it amazes me , ppl come from 3rd world countries , to australia , and complain . but they never go back home lol

Remember culture shock. Africans are a new edition. In the 90s it was asians. You will hate us at some point. But eventually you will understand us and accept our problems. Also try not to see us as aussie and the assholes as a representation of us all. I deal with 5 or so asshole people a year. In general we are nice but we are human. In a garden of 1000 flowers and 1 snake, what do you focus on? But understanding the snake will help you see the flowers. 😊
