the rear camera stays on until about 5 miles an hour because you might be doing a multiple point parking manurer, so you don't need to reactivate the camera every time you shift into reverse.

I would agree that the rear camera does stay on for a reason and for something that is operating automatically it is better to have it stay on slightly longer than go off before you have finished your manoeuvre.

Exactly, basically every car keeps the sensors and camera on until you reach a certain speed. My 2016 BMW does that so does my parents 2018 Ford Kuga. It is so the sensors and camera don't switch on and off just because you shift to drive or 1st Gear in case your are still parking your car you still have the overview for safety and comfort. Once you go over a certain speed it is likely you're no more parking. Wouldn't it be annoying when you parking and the PDC and Camera turn off just because you are in drive or first gear.

I don't know if it's anything like my '17 Golf R but I can't change driving mode when any of the parking sensor/ reverse camera windows are up and the only way to shut them off is with a small button in the top right of the touch screen as far away as it can be,so that is kind of annoying. I pull out of the garage in the morning, the sensors go off because of the proximity to the garage door frame, I stop to close the garage door behind me and at that point I have to exit the sensor screen if I want to toggle into a different driving mode. It's not a big deal but it is a bit annoying that the mode button doesn't override whatever else the infotainment system is doing.

1. NO, I do not have that issue. Mine is solid and never moves. 2. Bro omg. 3. I don't have this problem either, front parking sensor seems consistent. 4. Again, I do not have this issue, reverse camera view goes away quickly. 5. I dunno, haven't driven my car hard and long enough I guess. My first road trip of 5 hours it seemed fine and had good power the whole time (I have a "tune" though). Are you going to tune it? I installed the JB4 tuner and it made a pretty big difference. In fact, maybe it would help with the perceived heat soak you mentioned. I think overall the stock tune felt slow and the car felt slow until i threw the tuner on. Just sayin'.

I just got a used 2017 S3 and am loving it as well! To give some feedback, I don't have the sunroof shade issue, mine seems to be staying put (I got it with 15500 miles on it as well, so it's probably something the dealer can fix under warranty). With regards to the backup camera, for me personally I love that it stays on while I'm maneuvering slowly. I'm in Los Angeles, and with parallel parking it's great to see what's behind you as I'm lining up forward after coming out of reverse. As for Corvette's having a front camera, I'm guessing it's because they have a REALLY long nose and it's difficult to get a feel for how far out it is. Also if you want to switch the sensors off sooner, toggle the parking sensor button just above the climate controls (next to the hazard lights button) With regards to parking sensor sensitivity, look around in the car settings on the MMI as I've seen adjustments for how sensitive they are. I forget which menu it is in exactly, but something I've noticed is that there's "hidden" menu's in the settings (well, they're not secret menus, but it's not intuitive that they're there in the first place). So you know how there's the silver ] and [ buttons on the sides of the jog wheel in the center console? When you're in a menu, pressing the left ] will bring up different options sometimes, and also pressing the right [ will do the same. So even when you go into a menu or are on a selection, press those buttons to see if there's any other options available. It might be in one of these "hidden" menus that I found the parking sensitivity. Oh and the job wheel will move up / down / left / right and reveal menus and options as well. Also, if you want the parking sensors to come on earlier, you can toggle the parking sensor button just above the climate area. Regarding the temperature gauge, do you mean the standard engine temp gauge with the thermometer icon? I have the virtual cockpit in mine (sorry the mix up happened with yours, it seems like something the salesman should've warned you about), and it has the temperature gauge. Looks like they put a boost gauge instead thinking it would be more useful? :( For the intercooler, might I recommend APR along with their stage 1 ECU / TCU tunes? Also check out www.goaprplus.com as they offer stage 1 tuning and give you a power train warranty!! They give you a warranty equal to whatever remaining powertrain warranty you have and will cover all repairs. :) Enjoy the ride sir! I know after 3 days I've got the massive grins (coming from a 2015 Golf R as well :)

I've got an S3 and there are some things I'd like to see improved but most of the things you've mentioned are not Audi's fault other than the sunroof thing (which I don't actually have). 5mph is reasonable for the rear video, the cockpit is your own fault (it says it all over the Audi literature and was basically the only extra I was recommended as a must have) and the parking sensors would be so annoying if they went off too early. I've seen cars where the parking sensors are too sensitive and it's so annoying. And finally the virtual cockpit has a lot more information so you get engine temp but it's not been a problem for me, if anything my engine being too cool is usually the issue.

Also, it's supposed to stay on, I personally love it. When I'm trying to parallel park or do 3 point turn, I don't want it to turn off, I want to know how far certain things are away from all sides of the car. Have you noticed the sun roof slightly opens by itself ?

2016 here. Number 1: nope. Number 2: wasn’t a thing for the 2016, but I don’t mind the regular dials. 3: mine pings for everything. The front sensors might need recalibrating. Also, with VCDS you can adjust the sensitivity. 4: it’s designed to stay on to 15khm but you can decrease it or increase it to 25kmh in VCDS. I personally prefer mine on longer after backing out and leaving in case someone’s behind me. 5: If it’s tuned or you’re racing it, you’re better off with a new intercooler anyway. And downpipe. No issues with temps here and I’m in FL on stock intercooler with stage 1 APR with an ECS intake, but then I don’t race it.

1. Not an issue in my S3 2. In australia the virtual cockpit comes standard across the range. Not sure why in America its an option lol. 3. I also feel that the parking sensors dont pick up parking blocks to avoid scraping the front bar. Its not really an issue for me though. As soon as i see that my car's ass is in behind the end of the parking lines i stop. I do wish Audi had a front facing camera on the S3. 4. I dont find this a huge issue as it will disable when you hit a certain speed, or you can manually switch it off by pressing the parking sensor button. 5. I havent experienced this as i probably dont drive the s3 hard enough lol.

What I hated about my 2015 S3 (not in any order) 1. Engine doesn't rev past 4k while parked in neutral. So much for revving it for your friends. 2. You put a cell phone on the passenger seat, the car keeps beeping telling you to put the seat belt on it. 3. The transmission shifts for you at redline no matter what mode its in. 4. The center console upshift and downshift gear selector orientation is backwards (all audi's are like this). Up should be for downshift, not upshift. 5. My brake rotor inner hubs started rusting looked bad. 6. The HVAC system. It was impossible for me to get a decent "Auto" climate control setting (or any setting for that matter even manual). The center vents only blew out cold air even in the winter with the heat on. It's 50 degrees out and you want some warm air, You have the climate control set to auto 71 degrees and the car is blowing cold uncomfortable air in your face from the center vents, while blowing warm air out the other vents. Try to turn it up to like say 74 to get the center vents to blow out warm air and the cabin becomes too hot. 7. Not so good fuel mileage I thought it was good at first but I now have a vehicle now that weighs 1000lbs more, performs just as well (actually feels faster) , and gets the same if not better fuel mileage 8. Small fuel tank (14 gallons is too small). But I guess all cars this size have fuel tanks around that size now. My 2001 BMW 330i had a 16 gallon tank. 9.The sunroof sunshade is perforated allowing sunlight in. 10. inconsistent launch control. Only used it about 6 times, but only about 2 times it launched like I would have expected. I got bored of the car and got rid of it after 3 years and 3 months. For such a fast car it felt boring. Plus the car was way too small for my 6" 200 lbs frame. I would rub against the steering wheel entering the vehicle causing these horrible creases in the leather.

Or did this car come with Nav as well it's just on the dash screen? Like the car and channel btw - looking to purchase an audi myself soon so i was curious about this. Thanks!

Rowan Smith the idea is that let's say your parking between cars and need to move forward to adjust your steering then it's still there for when you put it back into reverse etc...

James Lowe huh? It's only supposed to be on in reverse. Thanks for the lesson Edison.

Rowan Smith common sense should tell you why the Parking System works that way, the camera was on in reverse, and there was no lag, it's by designed to turn off if you are driving 5 miles fast, which would indicate to the car that you are no longer trying to park but you are driving. If you or the video uploader have an issue with this, there's nothing stopping you from VCD modding your car. Fucking amateurs you complainers are.

Those problems are a shame for a premium price like the Audi. No sunroof issues even with my VW and my Subaru rear view cam is off immediately after moving out of Reverse.

+Kasia Franczyk No, not at all it has the ability to get quieter with the push of a button. Sounds great.

So question for you, why didn't you go back to the dealer for the gauges thing? I would of been all over the dealer for that b.s.
@BlakesGarage

uSpotGaming it was a different dealer that told me that. I ordered the car from another dealership and really it was my bad for not noticing that the car didn't have that. Not a huge deal when I get another Audi in a few years I will do a custom order to the specs of my liking.

I see, fair enough. I understand one needs to do their own research but you can only get so far with information on the net. Somethings you are forced to rely on manufacturers or dealers. Anyways cheers, and thanks for answering :D

uSpotGaming yeah, i never built the Car online without starting with a prestige model. The money wasn't the issue with what I ordered It was an inventory deal where the car had most of my wants and I didn't want to wait for the exact car because no one had one with all the specs I wanted to I settled. Next time I will probably do a European delivery.

The European Delivery is quite awesome to be honest. I don't know how it works down in the US but in Canada you gotta pay for the car upfront plus 20% extra deposit in case you don't ship car back. Definitely worth it though :))

Why would you need a front facing parking camera? And I think your sunroof is broken because mine is just fine.
@BlakesGarage

Lorenz Müller just saying it would be nice since it has the front sonar but it's not always that accurate and I have a aftermarket Method Effects front splitter that I don't want to wack on anything. So I normally park very shallow in spots.

I think front facing cameras are not (yet) usual in the compact car class. On the A4 you can order them already

@BlakesGarage

Shannon Reuben yes and I have an expensive front splitter that I don't want to smash on curbs.

front facing camera would be nice though, but not worth the additional cost in my opinion..

however if you do want to have that additional assistance. look into a front facing sensor that is level with your splitter. that will be much cheaper than a front facing camera. and it will still get the job done :)
