You forgot to mention looking good. That’s the biggest key to winning right? 😜

Great tips Ed! I had to learn the patience tip the hard way in my first crit this year going all out too early and blowing up 😂 What workout would you recommend for someone who wants to try and get in a break or at least make some attacks etc to try new things in races?

Racing is so much fun! We all get excited when attacks go flying! A personal favourite is 60s full gas, 60s OFF x 3. That’s one block. Repeat 3 times over a 30min period. Another would be hard start FTP efforts. 30-45s out the saddle 130%FTP or more, then sit and get aero for 3-4min of FTP riding. Just works lactate clearance really well

Interesting stuff! I've not done any racing since 2016 and even then was just the odd crit here and there, never road raced and would love to try it out. Thanks for the tips and good luck with the race 👍

What’s you local crit circuit Nick? Or did you travel a fair bit to race? I feel well lucky with the race tomorrow being only a 15min drive away!

@@edlaverack Nothing that close unfortunately, it's about a 50 minute drive to Rhyl, or there's sometimes one on the local motor racing circuit at Oulton Park, similar kind of distance. You are lucky to have something so close!
