to the person in story 3 im pretty sure i know EXACTLY what you’re talking about and i believe the town you’re referring to is skidmore missouri right next to nw missouri state. The place is notorious for a ton of strange events and the people gained national attention for killing the towns bully in the middle of main street in broad daylight in front of practically everyone in town and when it came time to testify “nobody saw it”. this was a blatant conspiracy to get rid of him. in 2005 there was a murder of a pregnant woman where the baby was cut from the womb. if you ever go there the people immediately know you’re not from there and chances are word has spread that there’s an outsider in town the minute someone sees your car coming up 113. it’s as if they’re avoiding any outside contact and everyone goes into hiding immediately. i think this is because people come through there a lot to gawk and see the town since it’s known for some messed up events and the townspeople simply don’t want to be bothered by this. a lot of stuff has probably happened in the past with outsiders who came in there after hearing abt everything that’s happened there. we were part of that crowd and there is very little stopping people from doing what we did and i’d imagine it’s pretty common.

I live a county over from where story 4 went down, I have to say I agree and honestly probably more than 10. And as for story 3 my brother and I had so many guesses of towns around here where that strange interaction could've happened. Something is so off once you get far enough into Southern Illinois, like the vibe and energy, and then some towns have this odd social hierarchy and clique/cultish feeling to them. Super weird

@@michaelcornwall I agree southern and many places in central Illinois are very odd. I was born and raised on the east coast and moved to illinois about 20 years ago. So Ive lived in other parts of the US, and can definitely say the comparison is obvious once you are around a little bit. The other thing I have noticed is that some terrible murders and or odd disappearances happen and you only hear about it from word of mouth. When I was in college I bartended and I would hear of some pretty awful stories that should be in the paper or 10 oclock news and you never see anything about it. It is absolutely bizarre
@michaelcornwall
Жыл бұрын
@@salemsrevenge exactly! Yah central Illinois gives me the same vibes honestly, I've been around this area 20 years as well and it's just so different from anywhere else I've ever been. And that is exactly what my mom and I got talking about last night is the absurd number of terrible murders, disappearances, and alarming amount of cold cases in the central and southern part of the state, and you have to really do some deep diving to find anything about it in the internet, or hear it by only word of mouth which is extremely spooky. And on top of it we watch an insane amount of true crime TV and you hardly ever see any of the odd stuff that happens in these parts of Illinois ever discussed even though lots of the cases and stories absolutely deserve that kind of attention or notoriety.

From the description in Story 3, the town sounds like Carbondale, IL or maybe Marion. Ya, both the towns are in a college area and are relatively sleepy. Not really sure if there is anything supernatural or sinister going on in either of them. The book and movie "John Dies at the End" takes place in Marion, but that's total fiction. The only southern or central Illinois towns I know of with a creepy backstory is Mattoon - home of the Mad Gasser, but that was back in the 40's.

Story 3: I was born and raised (until 15 and after 20,) in New Mexico, but moved to a very tiny town, smack dab in the middle of Kansas, during those years in between. Midwestern “small towns” are the creepiest places I’ve ever lived through.. Now, keep in mind I have lived in LA and New York, since then (I’m 40, now). I was the scariest entity (in my opinion,) in both of those cities…. But that small town in Kansas, gives me nightmares, to this day. The people there, are like “the hills have eyes” type of folk. Don’t ever think that you will be accepted into these incestual towns. They hate everyone and ANYONE that moves in… and BELIEVE ME…. They’ll make sure that, in some way, they’ll traumatize you enough to drive you out of town in a way that you will NEVER come back… The Devil lives in the middle of the North American continent. It’s called Sterling, Kansas.

My dad, mom and baby sister went on a trip to Colorado in April 2011 (me and both brothers stayed home) and my sister was 10 and she described it as the trip from hell. I begged them not to go anyway because they were meeting a woman they met on Facebook (after they were there and returned home she suddenly deleted them off FB and ignored them so there's that). The whole trip was crazy, sand storm, snow storm, tumble weed storm and a tornado encounter - But my sister said the worst part was Grainfield, Kansas. The crappy van we had broke down there and she genuinely believed they were going to be skinned alive by the mechanic. She said everyone just stared them down and didn't speak to them at all except the mechanic and his wife. The mechanic gave my sister a piece of gum, stuck an apple sticker to her forehead and just kept giggling at her and asking her stuff while giving my parents nasty looks and rude comments. He charged my parents twice what a belt would cost on the van. My sister told me when they did get to Colorado she showed dad the piece of gum and he said if you're wary of it throw it away and she did. I didn't know any of this happened and felt sick when they got home and they told me, something horrific could have happened to them and I would have never known. I knew about the storms but not the breaking down because they knew I was gonna be pissed about it if they told me because I knew it was a bad idea to go. I've always felt I had to parent my parents and even after this trip they still went on trips to meet random people from FaceBook 🙃

So a small town in Ohio had a "pooper" few years back. He would poop on top of the hoods of cars. There is one picture of him but he was actually never caught.

I've lived in Jefferson county for 47yrs and can verify that the person writing the story about the "violent Ina area" or whatever has probably never been here and are apparently on the pipe. This place is boring as F but trying to pretend that its a crime ridden dangerous area is hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂 most crime happens in Mt Vernon which is about 15 miles from Ina.

I measure productivity of myself by how fast new episodes feel to appear, lately I feel like they come a bit slow despite Joel being insanely consistent for many moons, but I'm on sick leave for depression and unmedicated low functioning ADD anyway, everyday is a bit slow when you are free to move almost as little in a day as you like. All in good time tho.

Most people with guns in these stories don't even use them. Kind of makes all the talk about needing them ring hollow. If you have one, get fully trained in using it and USE IT. Why even take a weapon if your actual goal isn't to use it? Most people with a weapon don't even know *how* to use one, so they run the risk of having it taken, like in Story 2.

I agree, but glad that no one was actually killed over something so stupid. I think guns give people the confidence to do things that they otherwise wouldn't. Like confront and point a weapon at an obviously mentally ill guy. Why did they feel the need to shoot someone like that?

Exactly. I got firearm training for this reason. My dad left me guns when he passed away, and I wanted to be sure I knew how to safely use them. Plus, target practice is a fun sport.

I grew up on Aquidneck Island it 100% sounds like story one is talking about St George’s. The description of the town sounds like the Newport/Middletown area to a T, and the private school absolutely would have both the means and the evil in their hearts to provide a house and hush money to cover up something like this.
