After going through a spiritual awakening in my late 20's I developed a secure attachment to God and that really helped develop my emotional intelligence. I then delved deep in my scriptures and it validated my experiences/inner feelings. Prior to that, I was emotionally immature as I didn't have any secure attachments to anyone. Attachments to people are transient, whereas attachment to God is long term. Thank you for your videos Doc Snipes. I love your teaching style ♥️

The videos on mindfulness and Emotional IQ are my favorite. Mindfulness because I find it very fun and effective, Emotional IQ because I'm a very prickly person, lol, but I do have emotions too. Huey Lewis and The News "Do You Believe in Love"

I did not have a secure attachment with my caregiver. I just got hit across the head, shouted at and had no love or affection. I'm now trying to control my anger and overreactions and stay emotionally regulated through various techniques. Do you think I well ever be completely calm and regulated or will I have to constantly practice emotional intelligence?
@DocSnipes

That is a two part question. Addressing emotional regulation will likely require addressing the traumatic memories and associations that continue to trigger dysregulation in the present. However, emotional intelligence is a life skill that everyone needs to help them regulate their emotions and appropriately respond to others. Emotional dysregulation does not have to be life long-- responding in the extreme. This video might be insightful kzitem.info/news/bejne/qoGAtqimmoCBZXY

Thank you for clarify us about this. I have seen many children who couldn't develop their EQ well just because they haven't learned it from the caregivers who are also lack of it.

How do you Validate another’s chronic unpleasant emotions like shame and anger to motivate them to process those emotions and move on and grow? If Validation is saying “it’s ok / you’re ok”, then they seem to stay stuck there, since I just Validated that their emotional state is ok. Seems hard to Validate and then say, “but now you need to move on, change, grow, etc” ; that’s almost saying “they’re not ok”. Seems hard to balance Validation without Invalidating at the same time.
