About to start my 2nd detox since finding your channel. This video helped a ton. My husband and I have a youtube channel that is doing well. So, it has definitely encouraged me to be more intentional with my screen time. Thanks so much for sharing!

This rings so true for me. I'm on information over load! Lots of people talk about getting off of social media, but barely anyone is talking about getting off KZitem. I love KZitem...too much! My brain is constantly processing new information and I never have the time to apply it. We need to discuss this more as a society. Great video!

Thanks, Jess! ❤😊 The best way that we can limit technology is time in our home Jacuzzi. Electronics & water don'r pair well. Only a music mix on a hanging Bluetooth speaker... Also, taking time to sit in our yard, on the deck (my cooshy swing!) or three seasons room. Candles lit...prayers at any given time. Creating peace...❤

I just finished reading "Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt talking about how kids' and teens' mental health plummeted because of smartphones and social media. It was very eye opening

Theres alot of evidence for this, interested in reading this book! There was a notable change once smartphones were released, its very worrying because its so addictive and hard to escape for young ones

I went and read the book after reading your comment; thank you for mentioning it because I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot from it. It was mind-boggling for me, from the first to the last chapter. Could you please recommend any other books? Thanks.

I'm not a mom yet, just a 20 year old girl who is trying to slow down my life, and I have been loving your content! You exude wisdom and peace!! I would love ALL the book recommendations you have for transitioning to a minimalistic life if that's something you'd be interested in talking about.

Great video as always, Jess! For me, if I consume too much health information, I just freeze and won’t apply it as you mentioned. I too forget how to listen to my intuition and know what works and feels good for ME when I’m following too many health gurus. Like, what happened to just eating? Just eating whole, nourishing foods not only for fuel, but also for pleasure. What happened to just moving our bodies intuitively and for enjoyment too, not just to be “ripped”? That’s not my goal, btw, just saying what it’s like out there 😂) I end up with decision fatigue.

Wow, this is such a well spoken video essay! This made me remember my time in university (English major) when we would take an entire lecture to disect one sentence of a novel. And we would write papers on each book we read. This video made me crave that kind of deep thought, the type that transforms you as you say. Thank you so much for this video!

I feel like the season I've been coming into is so aligned with your content. I've really been enjoying listening to what you share. You put language to things I've felt but haven't articulated yet. I think the most eye-opening part of this video for me was the comparison to getting advice from tons of experts in a room at one time. Definitely inspired me to look at social media in a different way. Thank you for sharing your experience and insights! It's been really helpful!

You make such good points, and again most of them I have been considering for some time but it is very helpful to have someone else articulate them. I keep thinking: historically, no generation has had this access to entertainment and information 24/7. There's so much information, and again the format is such that it makes one feel like if you don't like at it NOW you are going to miss out! It is so different with a book. You can put a bookmark in, close it, and take it back up after engaging with your child/husband/etc. And then like you said, how productive is it if we just keep getting new ideas constantly but act on none of them? It doesn't matter how many delicious recipes I pinned if I end up ordering pizza because I wasted my time on the phone. So sad. Thank you for speaking up :). I am going to try a week-long fast and go from there...

To anyone who is thinking about it, DO IT! You will be so much more happier when it’s done. I’ve brought MAYBE 3 things of technology back into my life and I am so happy.

I have not been on social media for 10ish weeks… All I have is Facebook and Instagram. I don’t miss it! But I was also following good and positive people/pages. I didn’t even know the Olympics was going on until I got a text about it, and then I had to ask my husband where the Olympics were happening! 😆 you can go down a rabbit hole for sure. I still utilize KZitem a lot to learn different things. I’m interested in gardening, herbs, holistic health, cleaning/decluttering. But even if I click on the shorts I could be on that for almost an hour 😮 I only did that twice in the past 10 weeks. I feel great! I don’t have FOMO and if I didn’t need to know about it in real life and I don’t need to come across it on social media.

Thank you so much for this. I loved the analogy about walking into a room and receiving advice from 30 people at once. Makes soo much sense but we just hit follow on our phones without a second thought. My attention span is so short cause of all these reels and tiktoks, I feel like my brain is about to explode 😞

Could you please share your non-toxic minimalist makeup routine. You’re beautiful and I can tell you don’t have makeup caked on and a ton of product to hide your face but your natural beauty shines through. I’m starting to minimize my clothing, makeup and jewelry to be more simplified and modest and not over the top.

Great tips! I have quit FB since watching one of your videos. It has freed up a lot of space in my brain! Still a lot to do to starve the “need” I have for having my phone and using it, but I do feel more aware of what I am doing on it. I do try and intentionally leave my phone elsewhere, and on our Sabbath I rarely pick up my phone.
