Nice. I'll have to look into that for our shop. Would definitely be helpful for situations where we have the same nomenclature just with a different number at the end or whatnot.

For 45 years I have been using a "Bell System" 3.5lb hammer to strike my stamps on N.S. Blanks. Works so well. And let me say this...If Ma Bell were still around you would stand a very good chance of owning one. I just about had worn out some stamps when I keyed the American Dream Mall in NJ 2 yrs ago. Have a good size hammer when stamping your keys. Light hammers tend to bounce off keys when struck. I call mine...The Hammer of Hell!

I really like an arbor press for stamping instead of a hammer. Feels more controlled, no chance of the stamp moving or double impacts, and easy to 3d print a jig to align the key to the stamp every time. Also a ton easier on the hands than using a hammer when stamping a lot of keys.

I'd be interested to know a bit more about your arbor press stamping setup. Steel Stamps Inc. for example sells a 1 ton press where the ram is machined to hold stamps, but it appears to be more so for single stamps like "Control", "DND", etc. How do you go about stamping interchangeable characters like the "MULTI" in this video?

@@zach2763 I have a hole drilled in the ram of my arbor press that lets me insert stamps, and a thumb-turn set screw to hold the stamp in place. I only use single-letter stamps, not an interchangeable type holder, but I imagine that if it has a thin enough shank it would work too.

Pryor is a really good brand. I have the 2mm hand set of letters and numbers for my key stamping. Still, I can't recommend them for an individual with a low volume need. The brand is of superb quality... But the stamps are really pricey... If you need a 3 pounds hammer, a 48 oz ball pein can do the trick. That what I use for my DND stamp.

Very cool -- I've been trying to source an affordable steel type set like this for awhile. Definitely pricey. Pryor seems like a solid brand.

So far I’m pretty impressed. Probably a good deadblow hammer would work a wonder or two

@@RubberBanned It took me an absurdly long amount of time to find a small hammer I liked for stamping. I was pretty happy in the end and it was only $11 for a 4lb old short sledge, but damn, that took hours 😂

@@Chirael I keep thinking a brass hammer might work better and might "bounce" less. Not sure if that'd be true or not

I just scored a good deal on an interchangeable steel type set of 3/32 stamps by Young Bros (21129). Pretty sure they're rebranded Pryor stamps from England. Great quality. Maybe I need a heavier hammer though -- my 2 lb drilling hammer is okay, but marks could be a touch deeper. In any case, how's your set working out for your business?

Great video, thanks for sharing this. Did you buy it new from the company, or get a special deal somewhere? It's listed as over $700 on their site. And I thought the HPC Stamp Aligner was pricey 🤣

Based on the "H6" which is visible at 1:42 it looks like he has 3mm, so he has the 100 Character Alphanumeric Marking Set, Mini Stress (not dot stress), 3mm, with holder. On the Pryor Technology site it's "Type Stamps - Low Stress" SKU TPMSFH03 (I'd give you a link but I think YT would block it for spam); look for the SKU at the bottom of the page or the A1602 B in the pic that matches RB's (searching the site by SKU didn't work for me). That setup (full alphanumeric set 3mm ministress w/ holder) is showing up as $701.06 for me, though I also was told "Products in our store are temporarily unavailable" when going to any page on the site.
