Good morning Steve, very nice and tight job , I'll also use the Moen posi - temp valve when space is an issue, but I prefer the Moentrol valve much better which allows you to control the water pressure at the shower valve. Sometimes with a tightly closed or stuck gate valve I've noticed that by tapping slightly with your pliers on the back of the gate valve body seems to help free up the gate to move without breaking off from the stem. Good luck.

As always good job. I wonder though if the last valve lasted 59 years it was built pretty damn solid. But when you are on a budget you go with the moen. I installed a moen in my shower based on your videos, I thank you for the detailed videos, I installed the moen with the built in quarter turn shut offs built into the valve. Is that new valve a basic Moen valve? I feel like those have been the most prevalent inexpensive shower valves for years now, and for good reasons. Sure, the cartridges can get clogged, but they rarely ever need replacement. In fact, all of our faucets from 2002 worked and looked perfect until they were recently replaced! One got replaced with a Kohler valve, which has dripped slightly from the faucet intermittently since it was new! The other two were Delta Multichoice 40 valves with a fancy trim. Those seem to have lasted better, but time will tell if they are reliable like the good old Moens. I’ve seen Moen in commercial settings, like hotels, as well. Really a testament to their quality.

2 жыл бұрын
@@stf2400 You're still making plenty, let's not be dramatic. Here in Jersey, this kind of thing I'd charge anywhere from $800-$1000 depending on the area. Even after taking out taxes and other expenses, you're still clearing over $500 easily for a job that takes most competent plumbers only 1-2 hours tops. ProPress would make it even faster which is the real reason why some plumbers don't like it because they can't justify charging so much for labor time when they're in and out of jobs in half the time. The time you save using ProPress would allow you to fit in maybe an extra job or two a day which would end up being more profitable for you in the long run but sadly, some guys are too short-sighted to see the bigger picture as you say.
