Is there any reason to this other than adding a turbo? I have a spare 6.5 that was a milsurp non-turbo replacement in a case. I am assuming this would be a good idea for adding a turbo, but using the original injector pump.

You are correct. Adding a turbo or maybe if you made an open element air filter and some kind of header exhaust that got more air going into and through the engine. Otherwise you really don’t need to turn up the fuel or get any positive benefits.

How do you know if its been turned up in the past or not?

That is the problem. You don’t. Basic rule of thumb would be if no turbo, then it hasn’t been turned up enough to keep fuel to a turbo. If you get black smoke from a non turbo engine then it has either been turned up before or the timing is off a good bit. Plus, it could be a clogged air filter as well.

Which direction do you turn it to turn the fueling up?

Clockwise 1/4 turn adds fuel the amount the Banks manual says is needed.
