When I was in high school (before good ol KZitem) we heard you could turn up the pump. So we tried it on a 6.2 and we had it all apart like your showing but not knowing what the hell we were doing, we were bumping the key to rotate the motor to find that screw and well… she fired up and went right to redline. Shutting the key off did nothing and since we were clueless we were trying to figure out how to shut it down when a rod went through the block and caught on fire. We put the fire out and put a different motor in and now we know what we are doing. Costly lesson learned.

Thanks man. I blew up the 6.5 a couple months ago. And now I'm swapping a LS 5.3 v8 into it. It's almost done you should check out those videos. Hoping to get a first drive in this weekend

What your adjusting here is like doing tappets, you are adjusting the stroke of the 2 plungers by decreasing the clearance between it and the cam ring ( total injection volume), this also advances the pump timing some, the electronic pumps have 4 plungers which is why changing the resistor changes pump total injection volume without doing this

I'm not sure. But I think that vacuum hose will work just fine. Sorry I can't give you a better answer

Nice way to increase unnecessarily EGT’s and decrease reliability/fuel economy Ect… more fuel needs more air / bigger turbo so increased boost is efficient , bigger turbo means higher rpm’s and we all know the Detroit 6.5 doesn’t like high rpm , you can easily increase the fuel and boost slightly on stock turbo 2-3 psi to gain a little power but I wouldn’t go past that !! 6.5 is a great motor but they are not great modded 500hp candidates if u know what I mean . My daily driver is a 96 k2500 6.5 , bought it 10 years ago with 90k miles on it , since I don’t trust previous owners maintenance I’ve chosen to put new pmd "with custom bracket and heat shielded plate , new injectors, pump, rebuild turbo with wicked impeller wheel "love this impeller" , custom water to air intercooler, new water pump and bigger/aluminum radiator, new oses all around… Since I’ve done maintenance carefully and often prematurely 😂. Now 10 years later my k2500 has 200k miles and not a single mechanical failed on it , other than shocks, brakes and wheel bearings, refreshed suspension bushings simply to prevent any issues . It’s not the fastest diesel truck, not the strongest neither won’t pull a ridiculously huge load , but I wouldn’t buy any other truck tbh , it’s very fuel efficient, reliable and confortable, not a rotting shitbox like many other trucks , plus it has the old school Detroit noisy diesel sound that I love so much 😂

How can you get a tach reading? I’m gonna throw mine in a squarebody and id like to see my rpms
@sloansgarage5116

No 100% sure. I've look at a wiring diagram for my trucks gauges. And it's somehow getting its tach signal from the alternator. But that's how my 93 factory tach is set up. Not sure if you could do that with any old tach though. Hopefully this helps lead you in the right direction. I know it really wasn't an answer

How do you turn up electronic injector pump on a 94 6.5 Turbo
@sloansgarage5116
Жыл бұрын
You can bump the optic sensor on the injection pump. That will trick the sensor and it'll push more fuel and increase pump timing. There tons of videos. I haven't done an electronic one myself

The reason theres so much oil in the intake is because of the pcv valve that feeds into the turbo

I know where it was coming from. But it just seemed excessive. Since it was a diesel it don't care it'll run on oil 😆

All the fuel in the world won't make any difference unless you add the appropriate amount of boost, all your doing is lubing the exhaust system with unburnt fuel. Have a nice day 😊

Good to know 😆. I dont remember what turbo was on it in this video. But I put a hc1 holset turbo on it I got used. Wasn't wastegated and it would build between 20-25 psi depending on gear and load.

Most people say no more than 15 psi on these 6.5s. I had a h1c holset turbo off a cummins on mine. And it would run about 23 psi at full throttle. I had arp head studs and the truck ran like that for years. But I did blow a head gasket while romping on it recently and ended up bending some connecting rods.

this is not good to do . This will decrease the lifespan of your engine by half and use way to much fuel. It will waste fuel and be putting excessive pressure on your head gaskets
