18” 1-7.5 twist rifle+1 with a B&T 7.62 flow through is where I am right now but let me know if I should change things up to make this thing any smoother. I am used to my guns bucking in the military so I may not be the best judge.

Really as it pertains to how smooth they run. There’s definitely some personal preference or in the eyes of the beholder type thing. If that makes sense.
@4k0y0t3

@@txpredatorhunting That makes a lot of sense. I usually like mine a little over gassed because I expect it to run no matter what but the setup I have now is light years ahead of my old m16a4 lol.

@@4k0y0t3 I’d agree with that notion. Or at least have the ability to quickly tune it for dramatic weather changes. In theory I believe if a person was to tune for the general weather conditions, simply carrying a lighter buffer weight could potentially get you where you need to be in the happenstance of a extreme cold weather event . As I believe that to be the easier route to go rather than trying to tune the gas block while on a hunt. But, I still need to do more testing to make that a definite answer.

Thanks Wade. In the middle of testing my set up but waiting on the can to dive deeper. Without a suppressor I was running the following. Wilson combat barrel with mid length, H1, std carbine spring, Wilson fixed gas block. It ran without stopping around 70F. Since then I have a wolf hunter on the way and installed an adjustable gas block. Also have a griffin heavy spring, not sure how this will play out but it was cheap and doesn’t add weight to a hunting rifle.

Take a look at a lightweighted BCG like the rubber city titanium, imo the most overlooked and impactful variable on the tuning spectrum
@txpredatorhunting

Nice! Definitely on the list , but to be completely honest I had slightly avoided them due to the fact most light weight bcg are gutted and do not have forward assist slots . I like the looks of that bcg and will definitely get one coming . As that’s been a want to test . Much appreciated!

Full size Polonium and Polonium 30 should be approved soon. 18” BA SPR rifle gas. Will advise once I get everything together. Love the fact the Polonium will be perfect for 6ARC. Currently run an A5H2 wide open. Also works perfectly on an A2 rifle stock.

I hope I conveyed my point well enough. The flow through supressors are certainly the way to go, but definitely changes the system as whole . The reduction in back pressure definitely warrants some tune ability especially for those conditions.

18” rifle length Shaw customs barrel Superlative AGB Seven clicks out from shutoff Geissele H3 with braided wire spring Standard Faxon BCG Dead Air Primal with 6.5 end cap This setup is a little finicky as two clicks in either direction can go from short stroke to over gas. @@txpredatorhunting Yeah I walked the buffer weights up one at a time and each made a noticeable difference. Honestly with the standard buffer it sucks to shoot. I could prolly go A5 and a little heavier buffer but I’d rather go flow through first. I could use the can on several diff rifles whereas the buffer sys is kinda married to it. I should probably say I did all this “tuning” with factory Hornady.

@@SMACK1978 currently I can’t say going a5 is a better option than just heavier buffer weights. Still tons of testing to be done to say anything for sure , other than having tune ability in the gas block and some different weights to try .

Hey Wade im the one that asked about opening a gas port on a barrel. I’ll try and keep this short but there’s a lot. I built a 6 arc fantastic rifle have almost 1000 rounds through it. I’m a full time trapper so I shoot everything, I throw lead. I shoot all the factory loads same Poi. Now I gauge this by shooting jack rabbits in the head via thermal. 108,105,103 and the 80. I’m using a hux work flow through A5 buffer and green spring and or gessille braided wire spring. 108,105,103 cycle flawlessly. Now jump to 80s for yotes. Won’t cycle remove the can and open gas block all the way still won’t cycle. I can pop in a reduced recoil carbine spring (yellow) runs flawless on 80s. So my thoughts were to open the port slightly add a rifle speed gas block. Then I could simply dial up my gas and possibly run all ammo on green spring. Also I do have a borescope so I know my alignment is good. I’ve tried 5 different gas blocks. Thinking possibly there was a problem. 18”prof barrel San Tan upper/lower Lantac bcg Superlative, gas blocks Odin works gas block Lantac gas block Vltor a5 buffer (all weights) using A5-0 feels the best. Radian, suppressor, optimized, charging handle

I’ve finally seen this with the 80’s on few platforms. Before opening gas port up I’d see if I could find a good spot with buffer weight and spring with a good adjustable gas block first. If it was me.
@Trapper-tr3sd
4 ай бұрын
@@txpredatorhunting I’ve got the sweet spot with the reduced carbine power spring, using same buffer weight. I’ve played with buffer weights also. I just don’t want to have to change the spring between loads, unless that’s the only way. Spoke with prof they recommend against shooting 80s. I mentioned my findings and he documented what worked for me. Might be worth possibly sacrificing a barrel to know for sure. That rifle speed gas blocks as different diameter plungers, so in theory I’d still be able to choke it way down.
@txpredatorhunting
4 ай бұрын
@@Trapper-tr3sdseems strange they’d recommend that. Seems like a lazy response. The only problem with choking it down , if running flow through can, that may even further reduce back pressure. It would just need further , and prior testing.
@Trapper-tr3sd
4 ай бұрын
@@txpredatorhunting yes Sir I meant after increasing the port size on the barrel. If I’ve got too much I should be able to choke it down. I’ve pretty much tried most of the combinations available. I have a mini inventory on hand now but it’s fun. The whole problem goes away with the change of a buffer spring. I’d just prefer not to have to do this when I change loads.
