I lacked the sleep schedule, skin care, and phone discipline until about 30. However, I started investing quite early, and it has certainly paid off well. Also, I would add having an exercise regimen and the importance of listening. We have 2 ears and 1 mouth, best to use them in that ratio.

I did all of these (well apart from investing personally, I inherited all my fund and share account when I was 12) and by far the most important one is skincare. You can catch up on all the others but nothing can truly reverse poor skincare in your youth, only rectify the worst of it.

Dear Gent, As a 64 year old, the notion of skincare my generation left to 'lovers of musical theatre,' but perhaps its different for the youth of today. I have no mobile phone, and never earned enough to consider investments. My working life was at a rank with no autonomy, so I didn't have the option to live by my word, I did as I was told or else. As for check-ups, I tend to fall into the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' category; perhaps if I had earned more I would have been more proactive about my health. Frank.

As a man twice your age, I approve of this video. ;) I am missing the investments, never had the education for it so I keep putting it off, but I only have 20 years at best and more likely 15. I went to the dentist today and as I like to dress up for it and be clean, I did a facial scrub. Facial care is not girlie, but girls like soft skin on a man, don't forget your hands too! Speaking of teeth, I am missing 3 and it really sucks, so get to that dentist! I work 2 jobs so last week M-F I had 4 hours sleep each night, same this week but I hope to get more today and into the weekend. You can handle a few days, but after a while you will find yourself degrading healthwise physically and mentally. Learn phone manners, when receiving a call and you don't know who it is, say, "Hello" or Good morning", etc. Don't say things like "Yo!" When calling a business, say, "Hi my name is, and I am calling about".

A big thumbs up for the financial advice. When I was a kid my dad gave me vague advice about saving and being careful with my money, but it was never really emphasized enough in a meaningful way. I’m putting away more money for retirement now, but I’m over 60 so it’s almost too late. Set yourself up with a compounding interest retirement savings plan and start contributing regularly right now. Even a small amount every month when you’re in your 20s will be huge by the time you’re in your 60s. I really regret not doing that.

I think this is missing the point of being open-minded. Open-mindedness is one of the most undervalued and most misunderstood traits one can learn. It does not necessarily mean indifference to your principles or even negligence of basic common sense, which many people mistake it for. Accepting that other people come from different backgrounds with different experiences and therefore different points of view and not seeing it as a total deal-breaker is one of the rarest traits you can expect from anyone, be it men or women. Not ''having'' to be right all the time will make you significantly more likable and yes, it *does* matter what others think about you, whether you like it or not, as you cannot expect others to take a second look at you while you dismiss them for every little inconvenience their character might initially give you. A lot of people who are younger than you will have more experience in a certain field as they have different prioritization. Seeing them as ''worse'' or ''less'' in any way rather than just ''different'' is absolute poison to your ego.

Really like the part about living by your word. This is a very understated trait lacking not only in the youth, but in our elders as well. It applies to many aspects of life. Getting to work on time (or being there at all), doing things with friends you said you’d do. Sticking to your commitments. Etc. Women like consistency and dependability, so if nothing else think of how it’ll make you more attractive, but you should do it for yourself.

You stated that one should age naturally and not hide scars. But here you are promoting skin care routine like all the other channels related to grooming. Please specify this some day in another video, or where should one draw the line in skin care? There is no limit as of now as even hand creams are a vogue now.

Many people are untrustworthy, stupid, uneducated and some are mentally ill. A gentleman must have that knowledge and not expose himself to these people. You will also be disappointed that the person who always talks about ethics does not act that way and the person who is sensitive does not behave politely. You always have to expect it and always see yourself as valuable. This is important so that you are still healthy and good looking at the age of 56!

Getting out of bed early isn't a virtue. Consistency, as mentioned, is probably the best way to go. Some people have genes which make them "night owls". Going to bed late, or very late, and getting up late is not lazy. In fact, it could be considered lazy to give up and go to bed early.
@mtlicq
5 ай бұрын
Very true! I am naturally a "night owl" and I did my best studies and wrote my best essays when there were no potential distractions or alternative options. Also for long-distance cycling trips, my day starts at 1 or 2 PM, when cycling clubs are already finished. I also was able to adjust though, as I had a job for many years, arriving at the office before 7 AM, and it just takes a few weeks to get used to it, and then that becomes comfortable routine.

Some good advice there but the six month dental check-up for adults is something invented by dentists to make money -- every two years is perfectly acceptable if you are at a low risk of oral disease (e.g. have good dental hygiene and are not a smoker or heavy drinker or candy eater). I’ve spent more hours in a dental chair than you can imagine. 6 months is ideal, 9 months at most. Unless you have perfect teeth, no fillings, and take excellent care, no soda or dark tea, coffee stains then you can probably go 12 months. But dental work is best addressed early.
